Whos got this

Post by FreeHoller40 »

Looking up pedigrees on dogs today and ran across a pedigree in the link below that I would like to find. This would fit good in my blood and I dont know if this cross was ever made but would like to know.

I owned Sonia for a while. She was a nice dog. I know she was bred to IFC Green Bay Shooter, maybe twice on that cross, but I am not sure what else.

She had quit coming in heat to my knowledge as we had her here for a while to try to breed.

Rick Patterson owned her most of her earlier life.

Good luck!

Jim,

Could you tell me about her, how she was as far as nose, speed, hunt, etc. She must be pretty old by now to, right?

She was nice all around hound, she is near 10 now. Good looking female about 14 inches tall, but she ran in the Midwest in 13 inch class. She had places in the Midwest Circuit.

Real nice hunt and jumped rabbits, not just stayed busy. Good line control and upper medium foot, she was quicker when she was younger I was told. She had enough nose, don't know if she had a great big nose, but enough. She was VERY good at a long loss, she really focused on finding the rabbit, her best trait in my opinion.

We noticed that she was a bit more competitive than we like, but that is a personal preference. She would skirt and swing to get back to the front, BUT that could be age induced and to what type of hounds she was run with(harder hitting) than she was and she wanted to keep up. Our dogs run the line, but if you put her with quicker dogs it forced her to swing some...not bad, but noticeable. I had seen her turn a pack on a cutting rabbit and make it look really good. She was overall an above average female in most areas.

She was good in the kennel and had a really good mouth. I enjoyed listening to her run. Had she come in heat when we had her we were going to breed her and keep a pup, but she did not come in and too my knowledge may not have come in heat again.

Hope this helps!!

She is in Michigan. I gave her to a friend.

I made that pedigree a year or two ago. The cross was never made, I just wanted to see it on paper. Unfortunately, Smith's Big Money Man is deceased and I doubt Sonia is still having litters.
