Just wondering how everyone's season is going? Running has been consistent. With the mild temps, it's almost as if the rabbits are mating. Last weekend we were jumping a few doubles. Sort of like running in the Spring. Overall, I'm pleased with our start to the season. Hope everyone is having good running as well.

Westridge, evidently nobody but me and you on here has rabbit dogs. They all have hounds that run too fast for their noses and cant keep one going for over a minute without 2 or 3 breakdowns and then cant find the point of loss, but they will dedicate 50 responses to something as dumb as "Fastest Hound to Run" which is one of the most ridiculous posts on here and guys actually replied and frequently. Just shows what their worried about and it isnt rabbit hunting.
Here it was too warm for the 1st season and now were thru one week of rifle season with one to go. My 12yr old son has a buck and a doe and several rabbits along with a put n take pheasant. Looking forward to round 2 of rabbit season.

Been pretty good running here too. Have shot a lot due to thick cover, just been enjoying the races.

Lol, I was beginning to wonder if I was the only one hunting.

Grats to your son on his buck/doe harvest. Good luck the remainder of rabbit season. Keep us updated on how it goes.

How's ole Crank doing? You need to start Crank's Chronicles back up. I enjoy the pics & hunting stories. It's really thick where we're hunting as well. Need a good snow to help clear some shooting lanes, but I'm not complaining. I've been enjoying the nice weather.

Running is ok in my part of southeast ohio, also. Not great but good enough to keep the dogs working. My son and I are in Missouri this week for a week of chasing bunnies. Yesterday was our first day, we had some good running and we are enjoying ourselves. We will also do some pheasant hunting.

Georgia Report:
Deer Season will be closing on January 10th. this year, poor old city boys can't seem to get one in 4.5 months of Open Season ?
If all goes well when my Grandson who is coming home from Collage, for Christmas Break gets here, we planning on a short hunt on some Private land, looking forward to that soon. I have a kennel full of some fair Mutts,, just need to get these deer hunters out of the woods..

He's fine. Working with a pup off him. Killed 8 over them last Monday. Been mostly getting him to the trials. Plan on gun hunting him hard next 4 to 5 weeks though.

I'm loving this weather. We're laying the smack down on rabbits. Dogs running great! Seems like the farms are loaded with rabbit. Killed 41 rabbits in 3 days the week of thanksgiving.

East TN. report : Been warm & soppy wet here . Like in the 1st post jumping 2's most times . I've wondered to about rutt'n rabbits ? For the most they r running fair when jumped not nothing to brag about and it isn't the dogs fault most have hold'd up pretty quick . Deer season will be in till 1st week of Jan I think it is . I really didn't hunt till the week of Thanksgiving myself & a buddy took 27 in 3 days of hunting pravite farm land almost our daily limits , hadn't hit any public land due to deer season .

Here in Missouri this morning, our first couple jumps the rabbits were in pairs. We jumped a lot of rabbits and had good runs this morning. It is nice to hunt and not have deer ticks all over me and the dogs. In Ohio, I have days that I pick 4-5 dozen ticks off my pant legs.

Got out for a few hours today. Harvested one after a near hour long race. Hot here, but the hounds did alright.
Leaving early for our first WV Hare hunt tomorrow...we will see how it goes.

Running was good today. Jumped 5 and they ran very long. Harvest 1 with my buddy sharp shooting from the tuffy. Dogs did a great job. Couldn't of been more proud of the pack today

Had a nice hunt today. Dogs ran several rabbits & we were able to kill three. The temp was mild but it was overcast for most of the morning. Allowed us to hunt longer.
Sounds like everyone is having a good start to the season. Continue to keep us updated.
