Is this legal? We can't run in the wild after April 15th in new York.

West NO YOU CANNOT RUN ON PRIVATE LAND WITH PERMISSION. unless you are in a pen. Remember the game belongs to the state, not the land owner.
Sorry spell check would not let me type your handle.

I read it and it ( twice ) and still found it quite vague. Remember the first thing they teach you in law school. The law is what the judge says it is. I wouldn't chance it.

I have spoken to a DC officer here in NY and he told me you can only train on domesticated game out of season. He said this mean's it has to be in a pen because loose game is wild and owned by the state.

Just taking a wild guess here but since Pete is from Vermont, he probably doesn't give a crap what the law is in NY for running dogs.

Vermont's hunting season for hare is last Saturday in September through the 2nd Sunday in March state wide. There are a few towns in Northeastern VT where the season has been extended to March 31st the last few years.

No hounds are allowed to pursue game in the wild until June 1st. It is allowed within State permitted enclosures with a minimum of 20 acres enclosed from sunrise to sunset.
