Who out there got a pup from me or Bobby Vest from years ago? I know some really good dogs went to Louisiana/Mississippi and some others in Ohio, IN, IL, NC. If you would text me and let me know how if you still run these bloodlines? 502-376-7691

I have Stavemill’s Roper Joe. He is by Osborne’s Spade (Pine Mtn Chester x Pine Mtn Spirit) and out of Dark Holler Lucy (FC Rabbit Ridge New York Nick x FC Boothill’s Foxfire). At past 10, Roper hasn’t slowed down. He ran hard for 5.5 hours in a pack of 17 on Wednesday this week and always gets a lot of the action. Tough old dog.

Have you bred Roper Joe? How are his pups. Is he still able to breed?

Yes, I bred twice to him in 2017. I have 5 young hounds from those litters running in my pack now. The three females started easier and still out perform the two males, but I see the males doing more now. All of them we very game to stay with the pack at a young age. They were all a little trashy until they were taught what not to run. I lost some of the high class conformation by breeding to Roper, but they still are not bad. All but one of the females have good search, and the one female who doesn’t is still making a very good running hound. Roper is retired from the hunting pack now, but would not have any problems with being bred. I may breed to him again.

All of it, because it was all in my hounds already, so he’s not an outcross for me.
He doesn’t have Trapper, but has Indian Hills Gator, who I believe was Trapper’s brother.

Main Event: I wanted to add that something else that made Roper attractive to me was that he has a small amount of old show blood behind him through Gator, thanks to John New and Larry Carter, whose hounds produced FC Indian Hills Majer. Most field-bred hounds today have zero show blood, so when I see even a small amount, I pay attention. That old 1960s show blood was some great stuff for producing rabbit dogs that were built to work. Roper has only a very small amount, though. All my others have a much larger percentage of show.

tim, I have been following you for years and your breeding program. I seen a dog you produced at bosters vet clinic in gallipolis in the late 90`s and I have been hooked on the black and tans since. I have been waiting for something with crockett and cruiser for sale but no dice, thanks for responding
