I still remember his full page stud ads...LOL He must have been a nice dog. I saw several of his pups though and they were super slow for LP I believe they did well in other formats though.

When I lived in Manchester,Tn. there was a fellow that had a big kennel you could see from the Interstate. I stopped one day and introduced myself.
Found out he was a big time U.B.G.F. trialer and also "professionally" handled /trained / trialed dogs for other people. He was under the impression that he had some of the top beagles in the country in his kennels and maybe he did as he had all kinds of ribbons and trophies and had been successful at the S.P.O. Nationals.
He and I ran together twice before he realized that his dogs couldn't run up with the ones I had. Don't know how else to say it but his dogs were ultra conservative and slow to medium speed. Two completely different types of beagles.
This was back in the day when Tank was being heavily promoted and campaigned. At that time he was the toast of the U.B.G.F. trialers.
I asked this fellow if he had run against Tank and he said many times. He said " if you think my dogs are slow and conservative you ought to go see Tank". " .........

If I am right Tank was a flat creek bred dog. If so I have seen quite a few of those run. If you like a medium to just under medium speed dog you will like them. They hunt good and run a real clean track. Not my style but I could see where people would like them. I have always felt a good dog was a good dog and a bad a bad one. You just have to decide what style you like. I like a faster more aggressive run to catch type dog.

I seen Tank Run at the Progressive Pack, that is ARHA/NKC event way back in about 1989/90 time frame. He was already an AKC field Champion and the young kid that owned him at this time was last name Brimskey his first name was Don or Dan been so long I tend to forget names. My good Friend Mr.George Blaine from Oak Grove, La. owned a Black Creek, female she called "Cookie" she won the Sportsman Pride Hound Of The Year that year in the Championship Class. Those two was running against each other for the P.P. Championship class. They both did rather well and ended up in a Tie, had to run some overtime with the Big male, running her down.

No Sir he was a Boy, hound big boy at that. Mike Myers that worked for Bill Boatman, Sporting Goods, was a good friend to the young kid that owned Brinsky's Run-em Over Tank. I think the kid was from Pen. Mike was from Ohio. I know that MIKE handled and did some Stud Service for the owner.

Over my 21 year addiction to tree dogs I owned three of Bill Boatman's "Greenbriar Coon Coats".They were a dark green, heavy canvas material with flannel lining and corduroy collar and a game bag that would easily hold 50 lbs. of coons. I know that for a fact cause one night I was way back in the woods and killed a 26 pounder and the dogs treed a second one that I shot out that weighed 24 Lbs.
After lugging them all the way back to the truck I quit doing that and would skin them right there at the tree.
Boatman used to have a picture of himself in his Full Cry ads sitting at a bench in his "scent lab" making up coon training scent, deer and fox breaking scents, rabbit scent, etc.
I think my hunting buddy Bob still wears a pair of Bill Boatman green chaps.
Bill Boatman--- Bainbridge,Ohio. Wakes up some memories.

I've still got probably one of my first coon hunting lights which was a Bill Boatman Dynalite. I can't remember but I think maybe it was bought around 1970 ± a year or two. I believe Bill Boatman actually owned the Dynalite company and made these 6 cell plastic lights with a rim that glowed in the dark. It did have a charger that replaced the light assembly but I have lost that over the years of moving around. Sure rattles this ole guys memory of those times. I think Bill was a Black and Tan man as well. Thank you D.R. for shaking up those good ole day memories as they also take my mind to the old days of going to Kenton as well. Spent many a days there over the years.

Yup, the Bill Boatman Dynalite was my 1st light as well. I also discovered ther capable of knocking a dog out cold! Was coon hunting one night with a bunch of guys before I had any dogs of my own. One of the dogs was a 2 year old walker dog that weighed about 90 lbs. We were hunting a cornfield and walking around the outer edge of the corn. This walker dog came running full speed up behind us and ran head first into the but end of my Dynalite and it knocked him out cold. We thought 'ol Wesson done bit the dust! He did the whole funky chicken thing and then jumped up, staggered around a bit and headed back into the corn!!

That was 42 years ago! The stupid things you remember for years!
