Why do you think you don't see many hunting hare with beagles in the Rocky Mts and Western States- Wyoming, Utah, Colorado, etc....?

Probably, a combination, lack of interest (I'm thinking any owning hounds, they own big game hounds), access (mountain roads are not plowed)

Snow depth could play a big factor I would think in the winter.

Beagles could become easy prey for wolves and mountain lions too!

because the sound of hounds is like a dinner bell to Mt Lions and Grizzly Bears... Come to sound and realize a fat beagler easier to catch and tastier than a little fast dog. Heard a tale that last ones that ran dogs out there they found bear droppings with chewed up garmn, undigested little debbies and a carhart label....
