I have a classic 70 which has been upgraded. I would start with at least a 2 dog unit and a dummy collar. Any brand I would buy would have at least a 1 mile range. I still dont like the design of the rubber flap which covers the charging port :( Company is user friendly to work with for upgrades and service

If you are looking for something for training pups look at the dogtra 200 or 202 Gold. Excellent for pups and excellent as they grow older.
This unit is the best i have ever used on pups or young hounds.

I agree With latimer i have the Dogtra 202 Gold series and i like the Fact that they are smaller and have more adjustability The range is Good and the page mode is great for a gentle reminder on Pups. I have had NO problems at all with mine.

I have owned two sets of Tri-Tronics 3 dog Classic 70 and now own a new 6 dog Classic 70. I have had nothing but great service out of Tri-Tronics products.

Hello 603!
Tritronics is by far the best in quality and service. They stand behind there collars.
The best advice I can give you is plan for the future. You are better off to save for a three dog unit, also dont scimp on range.
Just be careful and don't abuse your hounds. NEVER shock unless you are 100% sure of what is going on!!
