TICKS ARE REALLY BAD THIS YEAR IN ALABAMA,NEVER SEEN THEM THIS BAD.WENT RUNNING YESTERDAY GOT COVERED ,ME AND DOGS BOTH.JUST WONDERING ABOUT OTHER PARTS OF THE COUNTRY IF ANY ONE ELSE WAS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY ARE SO BAD MY BROTHER SAID HE WOULD NOT GO BACK UNLESS HE WAS WEARING A CATTLE TAG IN BOTH EARS.SOME PEOPLE SAY IT IS DUE TO OUR MILD WINTER LAST YEAR.

Have been tested for lime disease at a urgent care center. Seems like i have had more bury in prior to me finding them. I read once only the male sucks blood i must be gettin all males. If it isnt ticks its chiggers. I dont think its any worse in south Ind than other years im just unprepared.

We went out a few days ago. Before dropping the dogs, my friend Paul powdered his dogs down with seven dust. After he was done, he still had a little powder on his hands, which he "patted" off on his pants by smacking his pants a few times. We went out and I pulled probably 20 ticks off me in the 3 hours we were out. We pulled a total of 0 off Paul.
Has anyone ever heard of using seven dust in this manner? I mean, it worked so well that we've began talking about "dusting" the hems of our pants with it.

We do it all the time in Texas. Works great. Wish I had it with me at the Nationals. Never seen ticks as bad as Kentucky.

Never seen them worse. I have been spraying with off, and picking ticks from dogs when I load them up. I think that burning would be the only way to get rid of the pests. Would be hard to burn large acreage though.

I just pulled 3 off my 1 dog today and 2 off the other dog. I didn't have any flea or tick meds on them in awhile so we went out and got some frontline. Then after the frontline i dusted them and there sleeping box down with seven dust. I hope that helps keep off the ticks.

I found the best way to keep ticks out. I went and bought 15 chickens! They eat something like 300 ticks an hour each. ;)
Works to keep them away from the kennels.

the 7 dust works good , i usually take a coffee can with a piece of old bath towel about 12'' by 12'' i pour about a 1/4 of a cup of kerosene in the bottom of the can and throw in the towel put a lid on the can,,,,when i get to the field i rub my hounds down and get very few maybe 1 tick on the hounds,,,,after about 4 outings you might need to put a tad bit more kerosene in the can,,,,,,this works well for me,,
