I need to know of something that can be mixed in a tank and kept for a couple of months and used to dip my dogs. I have a couple of dogs that seem to always get hammered with fleas.

I use Frontline sometimes, but its too expensive and I dont get the results I expected for the price.........but you might as well pee in the wind as to use Bio spot or any of them other cheap drops becuase they dont rid them of fleas and may make em sick.

I remember my dad use to dip his coondogs about once a week in some sort of chemical to get fleas and ticks off. Any of you have any idea what I can use?

Randy it being your dad, I will guess it was the same thing we used for years.
"Creosote dip" mixed up once a year in a 55 gallon barrel and used all except winter for fleas and ticks. Kept a piece of tin over it. It turns water a milky white and needs stirring up when ready to dip again. The creosote goes to the bottom and sticks like a YOOHOO chocolate drink. Has a distinct smell. Some folks here still use it and is sold locally at hardware and feed stores. FOLLOW DIRECTIONS!!
I noticed my wife and daughters-in-law washing their hair with a special expensive mineral wash called "TAR" based and upon smelling it, it sure was a creosote mixture somehow.

We make our own flee dip and it works great and has no chemicals in it. We put garlic, cooking oil and water in the blender and let er rip. Use a paint brush to paint it on the dogs. No flee's, flies, or ticks. We only use one tablespoon of oil and just enough water to cover all the dogs.

happy jack makes a dip you mix with water in a drum. i use it and dip my dogs once a month and have no fleas or ticks.

Randy,here is my two cents worth of remedies.I get one of those pump spray bottles and mix my own.I mix three teaspoons of 50% Malathon to a gallon of water and spray it on the dogs thoroughly about once a week or twice a week if the fleas are real bad.I also mix about ten teaspoons per gallon and spray all around my kennels including the kennel walls and sleeping areas,the ground all around the dog areas.I do this about once a week for four weeks straight to take care of the incubation period of flees.The Malathon can be found at any feed or lawn and garden store and is safe to use on dogs,gardens and lawns.It works great for fleas and ticks but like most sprays or dips it won't stay on the dogs very long at a time.What you don't use in the spray bottle just shake it up good for the next time and use it again.
For the areas around the kennels and the kennels I use a garden sprayer that fits on a hose and set the sprayer to ten teaspoons per gallon and let her rip.I also have a fogger sprayer I sometimes use for the dogs as it is a gentle spray and doesn't bother the dogs like a regular garden sprayer with the more powerful spray coming out.Just set the fogger on three teaspoons per gallon and really soak the dogs down with it.Hope you get rid of the fleas.

I have also used Happy Jack Kennel Dip 2 with great results (not the regular Kennel Dip but the Kennel Dip 2). Mix up a 33 gal. barrel full and dip the dogs down in it except for their heads. I didnt have as good results with HJ's regular dip but the Dip 2 seems to do the job very well. I think it has different ingredients in it than the regular dip.

I used to use Antroban sheep dip.

We went to the horse supply isle in rural king same chemicals as the dog dip but about 1/3 to 1/2 price. Read the label most have directions for dogs. I have a utility sink with a bucket under it and i use 2 buckets reuse dip mixture on several dogs this is the easiest way to treat several dogs i have found. Larry and Chris

I use Adams dip and I keep it in a plastic contaner.

I dip mine every couple weeks.

This stuff works wonders for the types of fleas we have up here.

randy i also use the happy jack it works great it keeps flees ticks and all mites off my dogs when i am dipping i put it in there ears to be sure they do not have ear mites and never had them
