Breeding ?

Anybody ever had a dog stand at different times in their heat cycle? My female had been in for about 4 days. Now since all dogs are a little different as to what time in their cycle they stand I went ahead and put the male with her just to see what happened. She stood and they locked up. The same thing the next day. The day after that he didn't show much interest. So I figured she was bred and marked the 62 days on the calender. Then as I was feeding one evening which was 12 days from the last time she stood I noticed that she was baked up to the side of the pen and he was acting very interested. Put them together and they locked up again. The day after that he got her two more times. Now these last three times the female acted even more wiliing because seh would hold her tail to the side and curl it out of the way and really stretch out there towards him. So I am guessing that this was probably when she actually took. What do some of you experts

think.

I'm no expert but it sounds like she is what we call a HUSSY! My guess is she was bred the second go round but I don't think I have ever heard of a bitch breeding 12 days apart. Keep an eye on her from the first mating thou. Good luck. Hare

If my math is correct you have 14 days between her first and last breeding with a couple of other breedings early and late in her heat cycle.If she concieved in both early and late breedings you will have pups born with an age difference equal to the amount of days between breedings.The pups from the last breeding may not survive.

I have never had pups born that were from breedings 12 days apart. I would say she took the second go round, if not maybe the 1st. No way she took both times.

The eggs are all released within a 24 hr. period to keep such an age difference within the litter from occurring...
If the eggs came down and the sperm was viable from the first breeding, then, they were fertilized. If the eggs came down after the sperm from the first breedings became unviable, the later breeding may have taken, unless, the eggs had already passed from the uterus, then, you may have a miss...
