Hunting,

Just curious as to what you are currently using? Does it work for you? What issues do you have with it???
If all is well with your current protocol, why change it????
"If it ain't broke, ......"

Iverheart plus is another product (like frontline, advantage, etc) that the manufactures and distributors give away to vets in order to get them to sell their products to the customers. I am not saying that it is no good or anything, mind you, just that your vet has a stake in you using it. It's all about the almighty dollar to alot of them. They want you to stop medicating your dogs yourself and buy the products they sell so they can make their mark up.

I don't know anything about the product and I hesitate to say, if the vet gave it to you and is recommending it, it must be a good product. There was a simular product on the market about 1 year ago that was suppose to be the MIRACLE heartworm, flea & tick control, de-worming, and mosquito product. It was called Proheart 6. It was a once a month injection that killed alot of dogs before further studies were done and it was found unsafe and recalled.
Alot of vets were recommending this product.

Here is some info on Ivermectin. Hope you find it useful.

I told her i will switch my dogs to ivomec when they are done this bottle of nemex2 but then she sold me this stuff. When i am done using it im changing over to ivomec.

Hunting,
The good thing about the 1% solution of Ivermectin is you can continue to use the Nemex II as it gets the intestinal worms that Ivomec doesn't get (hook worms). I use the combination of Ivermectin AND pyrantal Pamoate (nemex-type wormer) in my de-worming protocol. I find this works for me and my hounds. If this vet is bad mouthing Nemex II, it is ironic, as the Iverhart plus has the exact same active ingrediant (pyrantal pamoate). Guess he/she didn't think you would realize that or they didn't know themself.
Vets say all kinds of things to get you to buy "THEIR" products so they can make money from it. They have had to resort to selling products because they can't always get people to agree to let THEM treat the pets for worms. You can treat your dogs for less than a dollar per treatment, but the vet would charge you big$$$ for the same thing. They were losing money and thus the "retail" part of vet medicine was born! Now they bad mouth any products that they don't sell. No matter what you take your dog or cat in for, they will tell you some big story about why your dog/cat should be on "Science Diet" Rx dog food. Heck, the dogs we keep in the kennel that are on Science Diet, will hardly eat the stuff!!!
I don't want to sound like I am bad mouthing all vets, as I am sure that there are some very good vets out there that also care more about the animals than they do about their pocket book, but I haven't found one yet. I do wildlife rehab and it's nearly impossible to find a vet to donate his services to help out. All expenses come out of my pocket and I receive no pay or funds from the state for this. You would think that since a person "cares" for animals, they would "care" ABOUT them as well.

I will stop ranting now, lol.

It has the same ingredients and same concentrations as HeartGuard Plus. My vet who is great stated that Nemex II might be losing some of its effectiveness. Parsites are building up resistance in some animals. He states that it is safe and can use a LITTLE higher dosage than recommend to make sure that it is effective. Nemex is NOT for heart worms.

I buy the product for Large dogs and divide it in half which is the rate for mid-size dogs. and the price is about half for the cost for each treatment.

good luck.
