Took the dogs running this morning to a place I have been wanting to go.
I took all them including the youngsters, one of which I had to carry. She's about 11 weeks old though.
Anyway, one of my pups stuck his head down and straightened out, I thought for sure he'd found something interesting. He was about 20 yards or so in front of me so I couldn't see much but his rear end.
Next thing I know he lets out with a yelp........I thought "oh boy, he's got a snoot full of rabbit." He then comes running dead at me and goes straight past me about another 20 yards. He stopped, ran five or six tight circles about the size of a dining room table barking in the air. He then took off again and haven't seen him since.
Talked to several neighbors and one guy said he had killed six rattlesnakes in there this summer. I'll keep looking for the next week or so. Oh well.

Bad luck I guess. I hate it when it seems like you could fall out of a tree and not catch a break. keep us up to date hopefully you will get that pup back.

Had one rattlesnake bit last summer on Jelico mountain and he didn't make it. He was a dandy to. Always happens to your best hound. Hope you find him.

That sounds more like a bee sting than a snake bite james. I have seen dogs that are snake big go straight down or either get real docile, I have never seen one just haul it away out of dodge. On the other hand I have had grown dogs get into ground bee nests and take off for the hills. Good luck in finding him. I take my pups out when I run, but only after they show me in the yard at home that they will consistently come when I call them and that they know what here her here means.

Your exactly right Big Dog. Found him tonight with what looks to be a sting in his nose. Good call buddy.
Sure am glad he's back.

Thanks for the genuine concern guys.
The boys on the International Beaglers board seem concerned too.
Sure am glad to see the little guy back in his kennel where he belongs.
I hate losing a dog...........seems to make your whole week bad.
