How hard is it to get trials out here in the Oklahoma and Kansas area's?
What all is required?

Getting set up to hold AKC trials takes a little more work than some of the other registries. Im by no means a expert on the subject but if you dont get any help here you might try making a post on the MidWest message board and im sure you will get some help. http://s9.invisionfree.com/mwbga

Here's a brief rundown off the top of my head. If you're definitely serious I'll find you additional information.

1. Must be a club for at least one year and have held "fun hunts" during the time period.

2. Must have elected officers and have club bylaws/constitution.

3. Must have at least 20 members, all of which from the county you're holding the trial.

4. Once approved you must hold two Plan-A trials. These trials are basically ran the same identical way AKC licensed trials are held. However entries don't get any points towards their titles and whatnot. At these Plan-A trials you must have at least 40 total entries. Each class has to have at least 6 entries.

There's a link somewhere on AKC site with various other "must haves/must dos" in the process of starting a club.

Obtain you a AKC Rule book and it will explain most of it. If you are interested and have your club ready, let me know and i will get a packet togeather for you and send it to you.
Important items : Established Club, Constitution and By Laws if you are not an Establised Club you will have to have two plan B trials and two Plan A trials held 6 Mo's apart

Why would you want to hold an AKC hunt or even be affiliated with AKC since they support HSUS and PAWS backed legislation. Just fueling the fire to battle against us hunters and you all are paying for thier efforts.

So, what are we supposed to do? NKC bans anyone that tries to set the record straight and point out how corrupt they are. I guess we will all have UKC dogs before the year is over.

UKC and I like PKC also I hunt both coonhounds and beagles and like both of these organizations venues in both fields or I would like to see a regestry for hounds that the hunters run it not some fancy board of directors that has never held a gun in thier life or owned a hound or even one person that runs the whole thing and is the owner I would like to see a cooperative hunting registry run by hunters for hunters

AKC is far from perfect, but they are the most reputable registry going today, sometimes you have to take the bitter with the sweet.

Big Dog I will not take the bitter of AKC being in bed with the anti's it will not happen. I will take some bitter things for the sweet but that is not one of them Because to much of that there will be no sweet left look what the antis did in England and it can happen here too. I will not fund an organization that I know is helping HSUS and PETA pass legislation.

No offense Steve, but that is what the good ole US is all about, the freedom to make choices. I currently register all of the dogs I trial with all 3 major registries, akc, ukc and nkc, however they must be AKC first and that is the bottom line. I don't know of any organization that I agree with 100 % of what they say, so I see this as nothing different. I don't agree with everything that AKC does, but I use them for what they are worth to me.

Big Dog your are right you are entitled to your opinion and that is fine I was just stating mine. Remeber they are like belly buttons everyone has one. I am not criticizing you because of your opinion just giving mine about AKC

I would like to see PKC or UKC start a format similar to ARHA.....where you have a judge and the handlers can BS and enjoy the time in the field with dogs, but certify them. I know many people dont like ARHA because of the way the judging system plays into the politics, and that creates room for crooked things to happen. We have all seen it. The cast where you just know a certain dog has beat you all and he comes in with 0.

Imagine if you could tweak the rules of PP and change the silly rules, like a check every step and eliminate the chances of buddy judging by adding a gallery judge to score a line, this way the older gentlemen could also participate in the new format, where now the older men have problems judging in PP.

I am not saying to do away with the UKC hunts as they are now.......I am just saying add another format. A lot of people like me dont have the dogs to compete in UKC as it is now, where speed means so much and closeness means very little. It would be like ARHA PP and LP and GDB, just another format and another option for growth. And competition for the NKC/ARHA......obviously having multiple formats is good business seeing as how NKC/ARHA has done just fine.

I live in the Kansas City area and would be interested in getting an AKC club going in this area. I was involved in getting plan A trials set up when Central Ky Beagle Club got started. It's a long process, but not that complicated. I will PM you phone number.

I have been trying to get people fired up about "tweener pack" for the last couple years. Basically it would be like combining both ARHA LP and PP. I think LP is too rough and PP is too tight. Tweeners are just my style....quick check dogs with tons of hunt!
