What kind of bedding can I use for a pup? Havent put any straw in because when we let her run first place she runs to is the front porch where the wifes halloween decorations are and she starts pulling straw out from the bales then she heads for the pens out back, squeezes through the gate and proceeds to trying to eat the cedar chips in the dog houses there. There is an old piece of carpet in the garage and I thought that would work but but she wrestles with it also. I thought about going out in the back of the yard and mowing a spot pretty close to the ground and raking up the grass to use but she also pulls and tugs on grass constantly also and if the wind is blowing the will attack any leaf that moves. Any suggestions?
PS...A HUGE THANKS to Plowboy for the pup. You have definately made my son's day EVERY day as when he gets home from school he gets his homework done and heads outside to get his pup out. Might be tuff making her into a rabbit runner though as that boy packs her around ALL the time and the wife has gotten just as bad. LOL

I really like bermuda grass hay for all dog bedding. It does not have many stems in it & they just look warm all rolled up in it.
Blue Jack, I hope that Cale stays with the hunting bug, you can spoil that puppy all you want but you will not get the rabbit dog out of her, when she comes of age, just watch that scent turn her into all business.
Thanks for the gift you gave me, it has been put to good use.
Hat field, I have a drawing to give away one puppy every year to applicants that keep their grades up & have perfect attendance to school. The first year I got over 45 letters so I been picking them off a little bit as I can, just thought this boy needed his broken heart repaired sooner, so I moved him to the head of the line, since they were in Tn & not so far away. I don't fool with beagles to try to make money, when Cale held the pup up & grinned real big "Priceless"

Plowboy,
I commend YOU!!! You will get back what you give 10 fold and you will be a wealthy man.
Of course, we all know that wealth is not how much money you have!
As far as that puppy goes, try orchard grass or alfalfa hay. It's not got the best insulating qualities, but if she eats some of it, it won't hurt her. If you put enough in her house, it will certainly do it's job. Better yet, you could just keep her in the house, lol.
Congradulations on your new addition!

Sounds like the pup is bored during the day. Get him a compainion or maybe some toys to chew on and you might not have such a time with bedding.... just a suggestion.
