"Bad problem"
My dogs sight chased a deer a week ago. They came back, but this week- end they jumped some deer and it took me all night to catch them. I have a lot of money invested in these dogs. What can I do to stop this.
Invest in a shock collar system and some long 1/4" nylon rope. Take one out at a time around dark and find some deer standing in a field. Take the dog out on a long leash and tie one end to you and one to the dog. Let the dog come across the deer track and if he opens, then let him have it full blast with the shock collar. The long rope is so you don't lose the dog. Then put the dog in the truck and go home. The next day, do the other dog.
In between deer outtings, chase only rabbits if you can. So they don't think every time they go out, they get shocked.
Eventyally, they should learn that deer mean pain and they will stop.
Good luck,
Emery

Be ye kind one unto another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you. Ephesians 4:32
I agreee. The shock treatment is best to break a dog from trash. I think its best to start breaking before the habit even starts. I use the gland on a wire method with pups after they have ran rabbits several times. Then when their young in the field and we come across some deer I take them to the spot that they were standing and as soon as they put their nose down and act like they smeel the deer I let em have it with the collar. This usually lets them know that deer are bad. I also like to get them on a rabbit shortly after this so they see that it was the deer scent that caused the unwanted reaction of the collar.
