Does anyone out there use anything besides a game bag to hold harvested rabbits in? I can't stand to wear a game bag/vest, too constricting. Just last night I took some 550 cord, and put on it some hooks off of an old metal fish stringer I had. I think I can hook the rabbits with it and carry them over my back. Set them on the ground when I am not moving. What do you all think? Anyone else use a similar setup?

I hook them to my three dog lead.... Problem is what do you do if your by yourself and have to hook your dog up.... I hate game pouch to but I have come to one conclusion they reason they were made is because there is no easier way to carry game.... I usually take a pouch with me and when we get dressed before the hunt someone is always missing something and I usually offer it up.... They don't realize who gets to carry all the game

I don't mind carrying rabbits in my wick coat. The way it fits it doesn't seem to be as uncomfortable as other coats can be when loaded.

One trick I do use though is when I have to carry more than a couple I sqeeze the guts out to lighten the load.

Most of the spots on gun down here in MI I hang them in a tree and drive back and get them with quad... but up in the hare woods you are either carrying them by hand or pouching them.....

ive got a carrier that is different than a normal vest. it has straps that are like suspenders and just above your butt is a "sack" that is attached.... i know, not a great description but you have great movement and it holds about 6 rabbits. not sure who made it but i think it came from the NITE LITE catalog a few years ago.

I use a game vest myself but I have a buddy that just sticks a stick through the back leg and hangs them from a loop in his overalls. It can get your overalls bloody and it can be an invitation to some dogs but it works for him.

Get one of the strap vests from Filson or a similar style from another company. It has adjustable suspenders that go over your shoulders and attatch to a belt that goes around your waist. two sperate shell pockets are mounted on the belt that goes around your waist and a small game pouch is attatched very low on yor back to the belt and between the suspenders. It allows total freedom of your upper body and you can easily carry a limit of rabbits in it. A plus is that it distributes the weight when loaded mostly to your waist so that your shoulders don't get sore when packing game.

I looked in my NiteLite catalog, and they do sale a game pouch w/ suspenders, but I thought it was small for bird hunters? I may take a look at that one.

thats the one. it works great for rabbits or squirrels too. i dont use mine much because i like my wick vest with all the shell pockets and remote holder.

I just found a suspender type in a Waterfowl mag. It is a Browning PF Game Pouch. Game bag is only 10 oz. That seems a bit small, what do you think? Price is only 29.99

I agree with those vests.

I use one of my old turkey vests. THey are much more comfortable and much more reliable as far as tearing.

I am in the market for one of the game coats with the all the goodies but them darn things are over $100!

I had one like Blackdirt but I can't find it anywhere. GGRRRRR I like it also.

The one that blackdirt described is great, but have you seen one that holds a transmitter?

i use a game pouch that goes around your waist,,,,,it holds about 4 rabbits and there is a seperate pouch that holds shells i bought 3 of these on ebay for 6 bucks each,,,,,,,,and it is lined so blood dont hurt it at all,,,,,,

The game carrier Robert gave the link too from Wicks is about the best way to carry any amount of rabbits I've found. It folds up small and will carry 4-5 gutted rabbits. I use the Filson shooting bag too,it's like what Ringtail is talking about.I like it mostly for shells and leads or anything else I don't want in the coat. It has a lined pocket in the back that will hold maybe three rabbits. I hate dead weight on my shoulders.
