Ugliest beagle???

I went hunting with an old friend and what jumped out of his box with his beagles would shock anyone. It was the ugliest dog I thing I've seen, especially to hunt with.

I asked him what it was and he said it came in a litter with the other dogs he had that day, they were all litter mates. All the others looked like regular beagles.
I went through the questions like: could there be two fathers? Were the sire and dam both full beagle, or just look like it?

He says they all had the same sire and dam as they never left the pen and it has a top on it and no other dog could get in. One parent is AKC and the other could be if he wanted the papers.

This dog looks like a beagle in its body, was born with a three quarter tail, but has fuzzy hair all on its legs and its body hair is curly and longer than most beagles I've seen. Fuzzy has long hair hanging down fron her bottom jaw 1-1/2 inches long and has long whiskers. It is mostly white with brown spots. Her ears are narrower than beagles, but longer like a hound. She looks half or one quarter Airedale to me, mainly the face. She's small, less than 13 inches, but wide and very muscular and heavy in weight and has a real good beagle mouth and gives a lot of it.

This dog goes through honeysuckle and briars like a lizard, what a real jump dog, runs to catch, runs like a beagle trails, not like a mutt, and even ran front part time with my much longer legged dogs.

She had more talent than all his other pups combined.

I wasn't making fun of her going home like I was when she jumped out.

Ever see anything like this crop up or out, I never have?

John, sounds like it might be a throwback to a jack russell terrier that could be several generations back. Jack russells are supposed to be good rabbit dogs. One of the best little hounds (beagle) that I ever hunted with had a dam that was 1/4 feist and 3/4 beagle. She could run with the best of them and was a great jump dog.

Yep: Richard that is what i was thinking as i read the post. That dog has jack russel wrote all over it. The ears, the fast, the lizard, the hair and the size. This is a perfect example of some messed up papers. Oh well, So much for papers. I know grade dogs that should be registered and they don't look like no jack russel.
