it helps to cut the hair where you are putting the band.

jeff, put the small rubber bands on they band calfs with. i use needle nose pliers to put them on. within a week or two the end will fall off as well as the band and it will look like it was born that way. doesnt hurt the dog and very efficeint and clean.

i put a rubber band around it,,,its very tight i cant even get ahold of it to cut it off i was just worried that if the band wasnt in all the same place it might cause problems,,,,,i mean for the most part its all in place at the front there are a couple of strands toward the end,,,,,i think it will be ok,,,,,,,

Jeff tractor supply has the rings and tool to put it on the dogs tail around 10.00 well worth the money. I use it on hounds that bleed bad from them beating there tail raw. Does a very clean job just like the other guy said.about 2 weeks it will fall off.

Ringtail, I wouldn't worry about it. If the rubber band has been tight around it for an hour the circulation has already been cut off long enough for the tissue to die. It will fall off in a few days. I seldom dock a tail but I have used the rubber band off a newspaper and it works fine.

I took one off for the same reason. It fell off in about a week.. They normally heal fine without any aid since it is cool and no flies I doubt there will be a problem.

Make sure you put the band in between the cartilage on the tail. It will fall of in about 3-4 days. Dawgy
Unless your the lead dog the view never changes

I use goat castration bands they are smaller then the others. The last dog i did the tail fell off in 9 days. You can stretch the band over a piece of 1" pipe put the pipe over the tail and slide the band off where you want it to fall off.
