How can I keep my dogs quiet in the kennel?

how do you guys keep your dogs quiet. I have three dogs in one kennel and every morning at 6:30 they all start barking and howling together. this happens every single morning and i,m worried about the neighbors getting mad how can i stop them. Should i use a shock collar or I was thinking about putting a muzzel on them but i would have to put them on every night and take them off every morning and I really don't want them to be muzzeled up a night. Do think shock collars would work, will they chew on them, are shock collars chew proof. I thought about the hose but i would have to sneak over and then spray them. That's going to be hard because the hose is in clear view so they would see me. I put a tarp over the front of the cage so they can't see outside at night and it works good for over night because they use to bark around 3:00 a.m. before i put that cover on. But they still bark when the sun comes up. Any suggestions would help thanks.

There are anti bark devices that you can use that emit an utlrasonic tone that is suppoed to shut the dogs up when they start barking. I have heard some people say they work and other's say they don't. If you really want to get creative, you can put a sprinkler system above the kennel with a triggering device and every time the dogs bark they get a shower. Works in the summer, but not if you have freezing temps in the winter. However, if they learn over the course of the summer, they should be quiet in the winter (ya right) :)

I would use the collar. OR, had a friend that had a shorthair that used to bark. He used a pistol grip hose nozzel sprayer. He set it on spray so it would cover alot of pen, then hung it on fence with sprayer pointing into kennel. When dog began to bark he would turn hose on. The water faucet was inside his attached garage so dog couldn't see him turn it on. Only took a couple of sprays to get message across.
I had a pair of beagles that started barking at night. If another dog was passing through or if coon ran through yard I did nothing. But when they strarted barking just to be barking, I would turn flood light on that shined on kennel. I would then go in kennel with my trusty broom and commence to tell them about their back ground, @#&!!#@ and swat em with broom. When they ran in box I proceeded to pound the top of box with broom and give them a little more info about their breeding so they knew I was a little more than upset. Only took a couple of nights and they got the message. Then occasionally when they would bark, just turning the flood light on was all it took to send them in the box!

I too use the water hose. If they bark, I take the water hoe and wet them down. It doesn't take long for them to catch on if they bark in the pen, they are going to get wet.

Jimmie Abshire, What do you do with the wire clothes hanger? Whip them to death or hang them? Dan

if you don't wish to shock them or don't have shock collars you can shhot them wit ha bb gun in the legs/feet. don't use something powerful something like a red rider would work. don't let them see you with the gun or shooting them.
