What kind of running style do they prefer in midwest spo.Can anyone compare it say little pack or maybe UKC ?Fast ,med speed?Good line contol or cut and slash??Thanks in advance.

It depends greatly on the judges, but generally speaking they are fast and a bit rough. Most dogs will not stay long in check area, and when they get it they fly out of there. From what I have seen, they will allow overrunning the track quite a bit, but dont allow any mouth in check area.
Dogs that do well usually are good hunt/search dogs as judges usually stay with dogs and a lazy dog usually gets picked up. If you have a fast tight mouthed dog you should do well. If your dogs are less than 7 of 10 on speed dont expect much. I dont agree with all of this, but it seems to be lesser of evils for AKC in this area. Hope this helps!

Like anything else, a lot depends on where you run and the judges you run under. I've seen some hounds I wouldn't feed (too rough) but I've also seen some really nice winners packs, too after the roughest have been picked up. I like to visit the clubs that favor a clean Little Pack speed of dog. I agree with mybeagles, two of the most common reasons for getting picked up (outside something like a deer run or backtracking, etc.) is mouthiness - even the slightest extra mouth, and "not getting enough done". I hear this excuse - er, I mean term as much in MW as I heard "running too much rabbit" in UBGF.

I'm thinking about going to the trial at Edmore not expecting anything just want to check it out get involved with some other beaglers can't really say how my hounds will do just want to start getting into it.Do I need a handler for each dog?One of my hounds squeeks some in the check at times but will run the rabbit out of it would he get picked up?

Albion had a nice trial last year and had good a winners packs in the class we saw. The only way for you to know is to attend and bring your dogs. You will be made to feel welcome there. As far as needing another handler, depends on which classes you wil be running. The only way I can see you might need another handler for this trial is if you are running a big male and a little male (both classes held the same day in different areas). Hope to see you there!
