I have been thinking about getting one I wanted to see what others thought about them for this breed and what you would reccomend. Please flood this thread!!!!

I use them everytime i go out. They work great.

Tri-tronics is the best if you are going to get one.

Shock collars can be the best tool to use with beagles, but they have to be used carefuly. Each dog reacts differently to electric, so you need to observe each dog when shocked to know what stimulation is best for each dog. A collar cannot be used on some dogs, they cannot tolerate any electric shock.

Tri tronics is with out a doubt the best I have used or been around.

They are a great tool ! they can correcct alot of probelems with running and behavior. But be careful you can over use it it can take the hunt ut of a hound if used too much, it can make some dogs collar smart(only behave right whencollar is on them).
the plus side it can correct poor handling , off game , barking etc.
make sure that when you use it the first itme you can catch the hound as some of the do not take it well and may run off. Also if you are correcting a problem do not yell at the hound when shocking this causes them to associate the shock with you. More than likely they will come back to you when shocked when they do act as if nothing happened unless you are trying to get them to handle then in that case pet the hound and praise it when they do return.

As stated above, use very judiciously, never when you are mad at your dog.

I use Dogtra, very good collar.

Ditto what paz said including the Dogtra statement. My partners and I have a total of 3 sets of the 1800 series and 2 pup trainers, i.e. smaller collars with a choice of paging, which is vibrating the collar, or an electrical stimulant. Just use with a little vigilance.

Tri-tronics are the best...I have seen shocking collars change a dogs whole out look on hunting before if you know the level that the dog can take and when to use it and when not to.You truely need a shocking collar if you run dogs.

collars are very good tools if used correctly.over using them or using them when you shouldnt will ruin a dog.as far as brands, i love tri-tronics.go with classic 70 g-2 series or trashbreaker.

I think they are shocking!!!! I'm 57 years old, have been hunting with dogs all my life and have only used one for the last 2 years, but I think they are the best thing to come along since sliced bread. Dan
