Female in heat

I have a female that came into heat Friday March 28 how many days before it’s safe to run her? I understand they will go looking for a friend.
How many days will it be that she stops attracting males and can run in trials?

It depends on what you mean by "came into heat". It is not usually an instant change. I pen up females for three full weeks from the first day she drips red blood. If I am on my toes, I often know sooner that she is coming in from the way both she and my males act and interact. Two weeks is the minimal time out of contact with males but is RISKY in terms of accidental breedings unless you are very sure about the phase she is in. Wait three weeks from the START of bleeding, test her with a male, if he shows excessive interest, bathe her, and spray the hair on her backside with a good dose of insect repellant (avoid the genitals themselves) and she will be good to go.

Ii had a female breed on the 19th day. If they are in ovulation for 4 days, then she could have been bred on the 23rd day. I keep mine up 4 weeks.

The old timers always said " 7 days coming in , 7days in heat and 7 days going out" 21 days if I count right.

The 21 days is right in a sense, that's how long a male will be distracted, at the least

, but there's a time, it's called "standing heat", which is the only time that the bitch will allow herself to be mounted. The optimum time for breeding is right after she stops bleeding and her discharge is clear or white.
With that said, I keep my bitches that are in heat away from my males the entire time they are heat, because the males are worthless around them during that time.
As far as breeding through the kennel fence, I've heard that one too

I've kept them in the past side by side when I had no other choice, never had it happen.....and with the method dogs breed, I would say that it's very, very unlikely.
Hope this helps!
