Here is one for you guys. Where does Perkins Run-n-Gun Buzzsaw rank now? Should he be mentioned in the same category as some of the more present bigger name Northway dogs such as Slim Jim and Billy Jack?
Where does he rank? Tell me your opinions.

I cannot speak for Slim and Billy because I have never seen them run. But here is my 2 cents. I have run with Buzz on and off since he started out. I always go back home for Thanksgiving and Christmas, me and Lynn have sorta had annual hunts during this time of the year, for the last few years. I always ask that Buzz go with us, because he is one of the best gundogs that I have ever went to the woods with. I have seen many days where the fast and overcompetitive dogs get their clocks cleaned on tough days by the old man. If it weren't for him somedays we wouldnt kill a rabbit. Could he have been a FC?? I think so without a doubt if he had been given the chance. I have and will always have Buzz blood in my breeding program. He throws brains, nose, and rabbit smarts to his pups. The proof is out there.

Unfortuanely he was never campained in akc . Should he of been ?, Ipersonally never seen slim jim . Buzz is one of the best all a round dogs to take air in , thats my opinion there are so many that have bred to him that are 100% satisfied . He is living proof that speed can and will get busted .He has by far stood out as one of the best . period , this includes my dogs . He is amazing as far as just common ass rabbit sense , dont skirt dont swing just hunts . Probaly the best line control dog
i have seen period . And yes akc boys i said line control not front drive dogs , i really wish he would of gotten his sunshine in akc simply could of run in midwest or spo . I would say buzz is the poster dog for old school northway . I am very happy to have spent the last few years getting the chance to see a quality hound with a first rate owner . I am also proud to say this buzz lives thru his offspring at my house in abshires little bit nasty . He is quickly becoming jimbo top dog . Win lose or draw he will die at my house

Got to see Buzz run at the 05 world in the semi with 4 other dogs and they ran the legs off of those two young judges all over that mile section! He done a wonderful job but got beat that day, ended up I think in the top 15 in that hunt. Lynn said it wasn't one of his best days but I thought he looked real good! I think with Buzz the proof is in the puddin!!! dboman

Ive been saying this for several years know. BuzzSaw is one of the finest hounds of this time.. Several years ago I made a special trip up to the mtns to gun hunt with Lynn and some others, to see Buzz go. To say the least he put one of the finest shows Ive witnessed. I think he jumped almost every rabbit that was ran (in the company of some A1 JumpDogs) and just laid on that track. I got curious in him as I own a grandpup of his and after talking to Lynn discovered that the traits that I was seeing were probably coming from Buzz. To say the least after watching him run many times at trials and the pleasure to watch him when it counts (gun season). He is by far one of the best "rabbit dogs" Ive ever watched. Consistent to a T.
As far as comparing him to Billy Jack or Slim I honestly never saw them run. Heard good and bad out of both. But as far as producing ability Buzz at least from what Ive seen outshines them by far. Not really meaning any offense to Billy or Slim, Ive seen several of there offspring and I was not impressed. I am sure they have produced good hounds.
Buzz is a unbelievable hound. If you ever get the chance I highly reccomend making the trip to Pikeville and go gun hunting with him.

Wow what a picture . First time i ever seen buzz with hair on his tail.
He is without a doubt on of the best males east of the ol mississsipi.
Anyone looking for Xtreme Hunt - and slobbering chop give buzz a shot ,
I aint heard nobody complain that has bred select bitches, buzz is a proven reproducer without a doubt .

well ive never seen buzzsaw run that im aware of but ive seen billy jack and slim jim run a couple times when paul came down a couple years ago to wurtlands large pack he drove around all evening before the big males trying to find deer so he could shock both dogs off them slim jim was lost three years ago for bigger part of a day on a deer chase at wurtland ky one of my running buddies found him that evening a few miles from where the pack was cast that morning and it being close to xmas he had a pair of those red riendeer antlers you see people wearing put them on the dog and took him back to the club and asked if anyone had lost a deer dog at the time he didnt now it was slim jim in my mine those dogs may be good dogs but if you cant put them down out side of and enclosure with out the fear of them running off game they aint worth feeding to me i am not bashing northway hounds i bought one from paul a few years ago that was the best rabbit dog i have owned you couldnt pay him to run a deer and if he was with something that did he would come and tell
