Have any idea what coated wire with apron would cost for 8 to 10 acs.

I'll try to help. If you do 10 acres that would be 435600 sq. ft. If your ten acres is a square that would be 660 ft per side. 660 x 4 = 2640 ft.

You then would need 27 rolls ( 100 ft per roll ) to do the fence. 5 ft fence would leave 4 ft above ground, 1 ft apron. 27 x $100 = $2700 The post would have to be 5 ft so you can have 4 ft plus above ground. If you use metal t post and put them every 8 ft then you need appox 330 posts. At $3.00 per post that would be $990. Usually you would use wood post at the corners and every 100 ft to help the splices of the rabbit fence. You could use cedar post or treated post. The corners would take 3 post (bracing) and 3 posts at every 100 ft (bracing), so that would be 12 for the corners and 18 for the sides. 12 x 4 = 48 and 18 x 4 = 72 , 48 + 72 =120 posts, now they would be free if you cut your own out of cedar or say at least $5 per post if treated. $600 for treated. Alot of enclosures use some sort of high tensile wire at the bottom, middle and top to help hold the fence up and keep the critters out. If you get a roll of hightensile wire (2000 ft) at $50 per roll, you would need 4 rolls. 2640 ft x 3 = 7920ft / 2000 = approx 4,
so 4 x 50 = $200. Not counting a gate, fence staples, concrete-used for posts.

wire = $2700
t posts = $990
tensile wire = $200
treated post = $600
gate $100
staples, concrete, hog rings( to attach fence to tensile wire) $300

At least $4890, that would be a conservative number.

the wire comes in 150 ft rolls.in NC a company called Hog Slat ( website)sales these pvc coated/galvanized one inch mesh 5 ft high wire for $95/roll. you will need 17.6 rolls.Byrn sales this same wire in the magazines for $125/roll.you can use metal t post in line and 8 inch creosote post on corners and gates. you can also try riverdale.com wire compamy in mass-they have some great buys on wire.that's very cheap.can build it for 2300-2500.rabbits need nore water in hot weather.cut the bottom out of a plastic 55 gal drum about 6 in deep.keep it changed weekly.dig the ground out about half way to set it down in there.

can one week every month add albon to h20 to keep coccidiosis in check also.

by the way the wire is pliable enough to bend the apron with your foot as you hang it using nylon ties.

WHATS THE BEST THING TO PLANT IN A STARTING PEN I HAVE A 2 ACRE PEN AND NEED TO PLANT SOME MORE COVER IN IT. IN THE SUMMER TIME ITS GOOD BUT IN WINTER IT COULD USE SOME THANKS PAUL

just from my experience with my pen, i had to staple my apron to the ground in a lot of places, otherwise bunnies get out and critters get in, i used cloths hangers,, i got them from the uniform company where i work at which you can cut up to 4 or 5 out of 1 and horse shoe bend them and staple it to the ground, but man its a lot of work but i myself had to do something where i put my pen.
also don't be surprised if 1 day your local WMA don't come knocking at your door to check you out, they did me and let me know real quick what i could and couldn't do.

$ 320 cedar post every 75'
$ hi tensile wire 3 strans around and Misc.
Total just over $ 3000.00

What height fencing are you guys with running pens using? I know that apron fence has the 12" apron along the bottom but I'm interested in the height from the ground up and not the overall wire height.

mine is 4' ht from the ground, plenty high enough.

Which direction do you lay the apron? In or out? What is more important, keeping the rabbits in or keeping other animals out? I have seen it done both ways. What do you guys think?
