Went running the dogs saturday morning at a new place. Well saturday night and sunday morning I had chiggers all over my ankles and legs. They got me good. I have about a million red bumps on my legs.

Any home remedies......

Anyone else got em..........

I wonder if sweatin' out silver bullets while runnin' will run them off? Think I may have to try that tonight!

When we picked berries as a boy, afterwards we would go to the copperish pits and take a swim. We always thought the high sulfur content killed them...

Today, we spray down and remove clothes and shower soon as we get home. I don't know what's worse, chiggers or these dang little ticks...

Don't eat bananas until cold weather.

Eat a clove or two of garlic a day.
Pickled garlic works as good doesn't make your breath smell like garlic.
No redbugs, biting flies or ticks.

Stand close to someone that eats bananas and watch the difference.

I always add some bleach to the bath water. Afterwards shower off good. It has always worked for me.

I live near Fort Bragg chigger heaven.Spray pants legs socks shoes with deep woods Off.I use a half cup of beach in the tub full of hot as you can stand hot h20.Afterwards rub cortisone in the itch. This is the best thing the army guys use.

Years ago I would buy flea soap in bar form and when I showered at night I would use the flea soap to wash with. It seemed to work real well to get rid of chiggers. I haven't been able to find flea soap in bar form for years. I haven't tried any of the flea shampoos that are on the market but it may work.

Use REPEL to prevent them in the future. Wipe down with Alcohol right when you get home if you forget to spray. For this time, take a HOT shower. Turn off the water and rub salt onto each bite until it bleeds a bit then rinse off the excess salt. You can also use starting fluid to kill them on a few bites but I would not do it in your case. Be careful about flames when you do use it. Caladryl clear will help with the itching but the shower treatment or otherwise removing the little spider is all that works for me - killing him helps but removing him is the only way my bites will totally heal. Household ammonia also helps with the itching but not the healing. Even when I get just one or two bites, I have to pick the scabs off until I finally see him attached to get my wounds to heal. You better believe REPEL is a bargain and a necessity in my book!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got a nasty case of them at Silver Creek 3 years ago. If I had one bite on me I had 100, and they went places I don't allow my doctor to go. I tried ALL of these suggestions and all I can tell you is... for 4 days, be prepared to think you're gonna die and be afraid that you won't. I've never had anything make me suffer like they did, and sorry guys, none of those remedies worked for me, but I can say that going through all the motions will for a few minutes keep your mind off that fact that your azz is on fire. After 4 days you will finally begin to get some relief.

Chiggers can be present in one square foot of a field and not in the rest of it. They are generally in very small patches of grass - some here but not there. Not like anyone's gonna actually do this, but if you take a white sheet of paper and hold it vertically in an area of grass, if there are chiggers present, they will flock to the paper and soon it will look like it's been peppered.

Next time you run in the grass/weeds in the summer, duct tape the cuffs of your pants to your boots. This is where they get in - up under the cuff of your pants, and they will settle in mostly where your clothing or elastic bands are up against your skin. Believe me, after I got hit, I researched this crap, big-time.

Best of luck with you, you're just gonna have to ride it out, lol.

Bev thats a good one, "WHERE A DOCTOR HAS NEVER SEEN". I always carried two things while in the Army. Finger nail polish remover and clear finger nail polish. I used the remover first and then the polish. The acetone in the remover is like a fermalgahyde which is used to kill bugs. Yea Bev is right they will get anywhere its tight, even butt cracks. Maybe we ought to change our tidey whiteys to a different color, since there atttracted to white. HE HE
