There is always a demand for this. People wanting pups started, or just conditioning of their dogs. Fencing in 60 acres is quite the undertaking and will cost quite a bit more than the average person anticipates. Good luck on your venture and post where you are. You may even get some help in the building of your pen from people nearby that would like to use it on occasion... :)

WOW!! That's a bigger pen than most beagle clubs have to offer. Heck sounds like you could start your own club with that much ground. Where are you located Kevin?

sound like a good idea to me I no if it was ran right such as dogs being well taken care of, clean kennels, and dogs getting the running time they are supposed to get while their it would probally do pretty good. I no some of the pens I have seen people had nasty kennels to many pups being ran at one time and they were just turned lose they were not getting watched to see exactlly what the pups were doing I would like to see a pen in operation that not only starts pups but works with the pup on the mistakes they are making.

I seen and used a few running pen while living in Louisiana. The one gentleman put up a new 45 acre pen and say he work have his cost covered in 3.5 years. He had the pen booked every day and some days both morning and night. He charged $5 a dog, limit to 6 down at a time, booked 4 hours morning (6 am to 10 am) or night (6 PM to 10 PM). Had a samll building with wood stove, water, and electric.
I think is certain areas pens will be the way of the future.

There is demand for it in many areas where you can't train in the wild during the off season. If you have that big of a pen you could even section a little off for a puppy starting pen. (4 acres or so)

I think it's a great idea and there would be a market for it .
If you weren't so far from me I'd be there .

Hey Kevin, there are several pens here in MI and if you wan't a spot in the off season ( no running in the wild here from 4/15 to 7/15 ) you need to book ahead so there is definitely a market there. Most guys charge $100 per month or $25 per week, some will take a dog by the week but most wan't them there for a month at a time.

Good luck with it, it's a lot of work .
