If you want it healed fast go to this link and call them and order some Pink Ointment, they use it on the pads of alaskan sled dogs, it is the real deal on pad healing. http://www.auroraanimal.com/services/ I always keep a tube at the house, You buy it and get it shipped for around 20$ and a tube will last a couple of years.

ok here are my thoughts... I've always been told that a wound needs to heal from the inside out, super glew and wraps, have me wondering about scar tissue, and healing the outside first.am I just thinking backwards?

thanks for the advice,I'm thinking about getting some sav for it but I'm not sure about wrapping it up enless I have time to take it off and let it breath for a while.

just put the EMT or Pink ointment on it and let it be. Put the hound up for awhile and it will heal.
I have used and recomended the EMT gel for a few years now i dont go runnin without it. Works for ALL major cuts and has a natural anesthetic to it to help the pain. But you Still need to put the Dog Up so that it will heal.......

TC and the others have good advice, the only thing I can add is don't close the wound now. Let it heal from the inside out w/ good sauve, I've had lots of coon/bear dogs...and beagles w/ open dirty wounds.-----best to let them heal w/ the open method. Antibiotic Ointments--no stitches. Don't close the wound; for anerobic problems.
Any vets out there --help him out??
