im thinking about making mine like yours i saw pics of it somewhere else except make it so i can take the wire off to load coon dogs. if i make one and not buy the travler. I can buy the horse panels and my brotherinlaw owns a welding company. but his time will cost me twice my time. Mike did you get that female bred??

I think having a removable box/cage seperate is the way to go. I bought a hound trailer that is wielded solid and went against my thinking, but it was already made and used but had two nice boxes on it, so I've got all the basics I need when I decide to redo it like I had intended...
I also wanted to use the trailer for other things besides be a hound hauler...

I have a 46"x46" dog box that I plan to use to make a trailor. I bought a 4x8 bare trailor (no floor, tailgate or sides) from Tractor Supply for $295. I figure I can have the pen built for $250, so for under $600 plus a dog box I'm in business. I had a test run with a borrowed trailor and my dog box and my wife's VW Jetta TDI wagon got almost 40 MPH towing the trailor to NY.
That's how I afford to trial these days.

I assisted with the design, made all the decisions pertaining to materials, and I had Jonathon Tosh from Tennessee manufacture the trailer.

I tried to find a dealer that would make me a box and they were all rediculous with their price.Went to a local company that makes trailers and they made my box to my specs.Went to a local sign company and got some old scrap corrugated plastic and insulated the box for free! Bought some foam cushions wrapped in denier nylon for a nice comfortable ride for the dogs. You can purchase a Diamond Deluxe box and have someone that welds aluminum make you some doors on the side and have a trailer built to the box. Can't stress to you enough about getting a torsion axle for your trailer. Most companies that build trailers put a 3500 lb leaf spring axle on trailers.I can tell you from first hand experience after 6-8hrs of riding in that trailer getting bounced around your dogs just don't perform the same.Hope these ideas help.
