The firearms deer season in MO starts Nov. 10th. I am ready to go. I've deer hunted for 4 years now and never took a deer yet. So hopefully this will be my year. I have a rattle bag and a truetalker. I'm going to try and get them to come in. I've been watching a bunch of deer hunting video's like PRIMETIME, PRIMO and REALTREE to get tips. They make it look so easy but their on ranches filled with deer.
Anyone got any tips?

For the next 2 weeks the dogs get a break cause I'm hanging on the side of a pine tree.Rut is kicking into full swing right now here in GA. The deer I have some pics of from my cam tracker that I wanted to get was killed by my neighbor Saturday morn'n.Boy oh boy was he a nice one.Still plenty of big ones to go around.I think it was 2002 since I got one that i wanted to mount on the wall.If you figure up all the lease fees I've paid since then I could have taken one of those fancy trips to one of those ranches and got what I have been looking for all my life. Those guys on tv do make it look easy.Good luck on your hunting Joey!

joey ya might wanna leave your bag of tricks in your fanny pack n just get on a good deer trail set above it like 50 yds or more get where ya can see in alot of different directions n just set still n be as quite as ya can if there are other hunters in the aera they will have the deer moving just set tight as long as you can dont be moving any if theirs deer in the aera they most likely will feed into your aera those bag of tricks are kinda fishing lures their made to catch the fisherman not the fish
just be quite n watch for any movement the longer ya set still the better your chances of getting a shot at a big buck i usually kill bucks every year most of the time i fill all my tags i probally could fill all of them the first day if it was legal this is how i gun hunt the first 3 days good luck n be careful jb

You took the words out of my mouth , for years I rattled and grunted and used scents with little to no luck . Then I started doing a little scouting and found the travel routes between food and bedding areas my luck changed quick . I hang my camera where I hang my stand and have several pics of nice bucks fighting already ... So try wvduecece's advice first and let the deer move from point a to point b without expecting anything..
Good luck

Well we usually go to Rannaker CA which is about 100 miles from my house. That place is BUCKS only and the 4 point restriction is in affect. We are going to try that place again. I know where they funnel thru near a dried up creek type deal. Year after Year they pass in the morning. Usually we will see 10-15 does pass throughout the morning but never a buck. We could easily shoot 2 does each but you can't. I could care less about getting a buck all I want is some deer meat. That is the only place that I know and that we have hunted and actually see deer running thru the woods. So that is where we will hunt untill I find somewhere else. We've tried other places and don't see a thing. Just a bunch of squirrels. But I'm not going to give up. I wish that I was good at deer hunting like I am with rabbit hunting. I know places and small hot spots for rabbit well you all see my rabbit hunting pictures that I post every week.

Yeah that is what I figured I'm going to wait it out at first then I'll try the rattle bag and see what happens.

Opening day here in Indiana (for shotgun) is November 17th. I will be in the woods for the first time in 5 years. I'm getting a little excited. I reiterate what the others are saying; be still - especially opening day. The other hunters may drive them to you. If you hear a farmer's dog barking, sit still. Something may be passing thru shortly. Deer are pretty stealth, but during rut they tend to be careless, and if one gets within distance you won't miss seeing or hearing it. It will just suddenly loom up there in front of you. Keep the wind to your face, and good luck! It was my third year out before I killed one.
