Looks like my new litter is going to have it, in spades... they was for sale... the males, anyway....but not now. You talk about a racket, them little boogers can make some serious noise!

I'm enjoying some of that racket myself, Larry. You can pick their mouth out in any pack. Best of luck with them.

Gotta love it...
Old Blue Bawls has a wicked mouth....
Bobby Vest discribed it once as the sound of a goat gettings its throat slit...
I'd have to agree...

I read somewhere that a chop mouth was dominant over a bawl or squall. I really don't know. I do know that a lot of my dogs have a little flat chop and the race sounds like when you go to the dog pound and the mutts are yapping. I can't remember too many chop or turkey mouth hounds from the old days, except the possum and coon hounds would go to a chop at the tree but would bawl on the track. And a few fox dogs had the chop, not many beagles. Well as I remember most beagles had a horn, bawl or squeal mouth. I believe it is in the AKC rulebook that if a pair of hounds is equal in all other ways, the nod goes to the one with the better sounding mouth. I don't judge, but if I did I would not place a dog that was sadly lacking in voice.

I have to agree. I love the sound the of the suqeel. I know some don't, but I kinda like it. My gyp out of junie and my new one out of blue bawls both have a squeeky squall (sounds like something wrong) sound. Sounds like sweet music to me!

I've got a red female here, no idea what she's out of I never got papers. Doesn't have much hunt but she can make the hair on the back of your neck stand up. When she opens it sounds like you threw 3 more dogs in the pack.

got to love it. i remember when blue, gracie and blizzard first started down here. They had the wildest mouths id heard. Make the hair stand up on your neck if you were out running in the dark and have one open right next to you.
Id say that is where ole June got that mouth. Junes sister has the loud squall and her pup Bandit man when he lets it rip you can hear him for miles.
