Uno Makes History Again!

It has been 14 years since a Beagle has ended the year as the #1 Hound. As Uno's "family", we are not only proud of this accomplishment but, we are even prouder to announce that Uno will be receiving the Purina Pro Plan Top Showdogs of the Year (formerly, Quaker Oats) Award for the Hound Group. This award is given to the dog with the most Group I's in each Group. Uno ended 2007 with 91 Group wins. Winning this award is a feat never before accomplished by a Beagle in it's 55 year history.

For those of you who are Purina Pro Club members, please see the centerfold in your Today's Breeder magazine for a full story on Uno and Aaron and this prestigious award.

The awards are presented to the breeders, owners and handlers of each dog in each Group at a black tie dinner in New York the Saturday night before Westminster.

Uno has a great mouth to go along with his great ear set and tail ! He is a great hound ! As you can see he must be great in the check, everyone that checks him says he is " THE BEST "

Thanks so much Bev for posting that ;-) And thanks to everyone for thier congrats!! WE are SOOOO proud of this boy! Many of the top dogs in our country (showdogs) are flown from coast to coast and sometimes make 2 plane trips in one weekend following judges but, Uno has 28 BIS from 28 different judges and has flown on a plane only 1 time. He has always stayed in the southeast other than his trip to Euk and our advertising budget is a shoestring to say the least!!! ;-) I am not sure how many shows TC? I will pull a record on it from AKC and let you all know.

How mouth is just fine! As a matter of fact he never shuts up! I'm going to add a pic here of him at Euk and you can see is letting Aaron know he has plenty to say.

I have been offline for a while because I have moved myself and hounds out to the country. All I can say to you Leah is WoW! We all know it takes a tremendous amount of time and energy to train a field hound but no idea for a show hound. Congradutations for the wonderous feat you accomplished with Uno.

Congrats on the accomplishment! Anything that these little hounds do in any format, in any forum, is good for the breed. There have been extensive discussions here about crossing show hounds with gundogs, and it has been done with good outcomes. This is what it's all about, feed what you like, and to each his own. Beagles are first and foremost hunting dogs, but there is no breed alive that is as eager to please its "people" as a beagle. I saw Animal Planet the other day where the Beagle Brigade is keeping contraband from passing through airports. There seems to be no end to their talents. This board is unique in that, for the most part, we get along and have profitable and enlightening discussions no matter what purpose we breed our hounds for.

Congrats! That is a beautiful looking hound. I would like to see pictures from a variety of angles, just to get an idea about what they are looking for in the AKC shows. Any chance of some pictures?
