If you property owners were to start all over again, what would you look for in property. Would you buy all farmland to develop yourself; all woodland; 1/2 and 1/2 ??? Also, then how would you develop what you bought - raise crops with hedge rows, pine trees, multi flora rose, etc. And, how long would it take to develop it? I'm talking about a 60 acre parcel. Thanks

I would cut every tree off the place and plant Serica (spell?) with plenty of summer/winter food plots.

Untill good cover is established get 100 Ft roll of 6 In drain pipe, and cut it into sections to spread around. Also I have taken plastic barrels cut them in half . Stacked wood pallets and brush piles help. Cover is the key.

I have found that putting salt out for rabbits dramaticly increases the population.Just make sure there is plenty of cover.

putting feeders up for rabbits helps you can make them out of the bottom half of an old dog house put a piece of 4 inch pvc down through the top it gives them plenty of cover and some were to get out of the sun during the summer you also need watering holes

I may be wrong here, but I don't think that water is such a big deal. The rabbits get all the moisture they need from the plants they eat.
Take for example out in ID where I was before, there was a grand total of 9" of precip per year and most of that came during the winter. I was in a high desert plateau, hotter than hadies in the summer and no rain for 3 months or longer. There were, however, plenty of rabbits out there in the desert and all there was to eat was sage. No water.

Cover food and predator control. We've got a several hundred acre farm up here in NOVA which is almost unheard of nowadays, and we shoot most every predator we see. It takes a lot to keep them under wraps, but by doing this we've seen a lot more rabbits this year than the last couple years.
