Answer me this

Post by mtnwaykennel »

Guys and Gals...

I have a two part question.
Number one ... Me and my buddies was sitten around work today talking about dogs. It amazed them how different lifestyles we all lead and still all have beagles. I told them the few people I know and what they do. My question is ... what do you do for a living???? I think it would be cool to see what all we do ....

The second question is this. All of those who have not been into hounds of some sort your whole life.... what did you do before hounds? I know alot of people who now have hounds have always hunted etc. I was just wondering what some of you did as a past time.

I know I ask alot of questions .. but I was just wondering?

I am a high school teacher. I have always hunted and always wanted beagles, but did not get one until I graduated from college. Just needed to have a place to keep 'em and time to run'em.

I am the Vice President and inside sales manager for a wholesale cabinet shop supply business. I hunted in my teens and quit for a long time. I used to play alot of golf and spent many hours on the local driving range. My love of hounds came from my grand daddy who used to raise coon and fox hounds. When I finally got a house I bought a beagle and tried to run him with a buddy. He was a pretty sorry rabbit dog, but I was hooked on fast running. I started getting a few dogs to run and attended a few trials with another buddy. I watched and learned from different dogs and their handlers. I now own 7 beagles, one is a LPRCH and I run dogs all year long. I still play golf some, but not if the running is good.
Where's the earth shattering kaboom ?

Another school teacher here. I have always had dogs of some kind. Started beagling a few years ago. Running deer with dogs is not a popular as it used to be. Besides, beagles fit my current lifestyle a lot better.

I'm a respiratory therapist who works in the Heart Center at one of the nation's top ten children's hospitals. I've always hunted rabbits or done some type of hunting. I used to have beagle/bassett mix hounds as a teen but now run beagles only.

Well I work for walmart as an hourly supervisor. Taken that promotion was the worst thing i done to my beagles i used to work 3rds and ran dogs 4 or 5 days a week now im lucky to go out twice a week. I got started with beagles at the age of 9 with my granpa and brothers trained and raised my first beagle at twelve who founded my line for years. I used to mow grass all summer and save my money to feed my hounds my dad once told me i could do what ever i wanted as long as i feed and took care of them so by the time i was 17 i had 21 beagles here at the house and was running almost 6 days a week i used to really gut those dogs. man those were the days. Now i was into the coonhounds for awhile enjoyed it but not as much as my beagles. I trained squirrel dogs for a few years but still they were nothing like my beagles. I took a small breack when i went to collge and that was the worse thing i ever done. I let some boys look over my dogs for me and pretty much destroyed the bloodline i worked so hard to create. Now i only have one male to show for all that work of my old line but i will build around him crossing him with my patch dogs.
