If you shoot them in the head it doesn't matter

I usually shoot 6's. I shoot single shot 410 most of the time, unless we go to spot loaded with rabbits I'll bring out the 1100 20 gauge.

I like the #6 best but will use 7+ if it's what's available .
My last couple trips out I used a snub nose .22 but I didn't
kill anything as I know of

Winchester is my gun of preference

12 ga I prefer 7 1/2 shot Winchester AA's.
In my 20 ga, I perfer #6 or even #5 shot. It doesn't throw 7 1/2 very well.
In my muzzle loader, I shot #6, sometimes 7 1/2.

I prefer 7 1/2's out of a 20 and modified or improved cylinder. My experience is that larger shot shatters more bone and a rabbit is very thin skinned.Never had a problem with 7 1/2's except for a bad shot at close range. However I do go to the larger shot(6's and sometimes 5's) and full choke for those tough skinned squirrels in the tops of mature timber. 12 guage low brass # 4 cheap shells for Hare, we get to shoot a box or so a day at times so it saves $'s and doesn't break the Hare up so bad and still drops them at 40 yards. Not the best for long range thickety woods, but most times when hunting thick areas you're within 20-25 yards anyway.
