whats your idea of a dog

watched a dog today not get brought back in an AKC trail that was the only dog in the cast that was actually running it smooth, dog was up front got 60% of the checks all of the hard checks he would work them out ,hunted hard no extra mouth, in other words this dog looked like a dream. my dog got picked up in his cast for swinging I guess and in that cast a lot of the dogs were swinging and was left on the ground  and this this is my question if a dog works a close check ,and runs it like he's tied to it then why would he not get left on the ground. I'm no expert on these types of trails or claiming to be. But when a dog looks that good what else could be wrong?

i was at that akc trial and saw exactly what you are talking about the only thing that can explain that obvious of a screwing is the judges had to have been bought and paid for probably sold out cheap they looked like the type i hope that one idiot takes his three pieces of silver and buys some glasses for he obviously is blind as a bat and i hope that other idiot takes his three pieces and buys another horse hope my dog did not catch anything from that fleabit nag central kentucky beagle club can KMA :moon: THIS SYMBOL IS IN CASE THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT KMA STANDS FOR

i think that it is one that can lock on to a rabbit and drive it with a least a medium speed i like a fast dog myself but one that can go jump and run his or her own rabbit and not lose it at every turn

I wasn't there and have no idea what happened, but I do know those judges and they are good people. I've never seen Scott buddy judge for anyone. If you think you can do a better job judging, then go get your judges card and run with them. All I hear is a bunch of cry babies who thought they had a better dog than they do.

my dog got beat in his round by 2 dogs that were smooth, real smooth, but when this other dog ran a smooth race he wasn't left down, just a little confused, because 2 of the dogs would have been missed out if it were an ARHA hunt. Just what do you want an AKC dog to do because that dog in my opinion should have stayed on the ground. As far as a cry baby I'm not crying ,wasn't my dog that it got done to, just a shame it happened to the dog because he was putting on a show.

you ask what else could be wrong, maybe the dog back tracked, maybe he barked off at some point several times, maybe he laid a couple lines, maybe he tried to breed another dog, maybe he skirtted the briers on several occasions, maybe he run his mouth in the check too much. I don't know, I don't know what dog your talking about but all of this could have happened where you or the owner couldn't see it. You asked and those are all possibilities.

one more possibility you forgot to mention and that is the dog was wronged, and for your info i am entitled to my opinion as you are to yours if you do not like someone telling it like it is tough titty said the kitty the one way to make sure this does not happen anymore is for judges not to screw over anymore dogs

I've been to 3 AKC trials and I've had my questions about judgeing. I can't say if a hound I was running was cheated or not,I do know that the judges picked up the only 2 rabbit dogs in my cast but I can't say they cheated. If judges are cheating then its just another Registery that don't promote finding the best dog ( which is getting common). My advise is grow thicker skin if you are going to trial,as far as winning your hounds day will come. I don't judge hounds ability by a trial record,I judge them for they way they run a rabbit to the gun. Good luck.

Do you know for certain that they screwed over that hound? Were you running with them? I understand that you think this happened, but how do you know?

I don't know. I know it is easy to think you hear a dog doing something, when in fact he wasn't doing what you thought. Was he mouthy? I know those judges don't like that no matter how well they are doing otherwise.

What you see and what the judges see are often two different things. Did you run with the judges 100% of the time? If not I'll always go with what the judges say they saw. JMO.

i had a hound place in this trial and i have never met these judges. i would have to rule out the buddy system. my guess is that the judges seen some thing the handlers missed
