Type of Mouth

One of the things that I find most interesting about beagles is the variation in their mouth. If you're like me, you can't wait to hear that pup you are trying to start open on his first rabbit to see what type of mouth he will have (I know sometimes they change a bit as they mature).
I like have a good variety of mouth in my pack....so they easily stand out. However, right now I am running four dogs and they all sounds very, very similar....to the extent it is tough at times to determine who is doing what. I have had just about every type of mouth in my kennel over the years I've had dogs. There nothing like a good machine gun chop mouth on a drive to make the race exciting. And there's nothing like having a beagle that lets out a big coondog bawl when running thru a bottom to get ya fired up. Just about the only mouth I don't care for is a high pitch squeak mouth....had a female once w/ this type of mouth and had to trade her....it was that bad.
Of all the hound mouth's I've heard, I think my all time favorite was of a female I used to own named Lucy. She'd get so torn up when she was on a line that is sound like someone was beating her to death! I mean it really sounded like the coyotes were eating her alive. I can still hear her.....wish I had a dog like that in my pack today.
What is ya'll favorite type of mouth?
-Pete

I've got a different variety of mouths in my pack. i have a female that sounds like a kitty kat when she has to walk out a breakdown. meow meow. Then I have two brothers that are different then night from day on their mouths. One sounds like a coonhound that you could hear in a deep holler, and the other sounds like someone is squeezing his ----- when he opens and runs the track. It's so funny on the differance on mouths, but still music to my ears.

Best mouth I ever was called a laughing mouth, a foxhound and it sounded like a man laughing Ha Ha ha HO ho ha haha ha ho ho. I like a cur dog mouth that is clear and spit out faster than you can clap your hands. The kind that makes you stand your tip-toe to hear just a touch better.

Had them with all Kinds of mouths squeak;Bawl;chop; yodel; squeal; but I pefer either a bawl or chop good and loud on either. Have had females with a coon hound bawl and males with a sissy squeal. If they can do the job right there is no such a thing as a bad mouth or color.

Give me the loud squall. I really like to hear all types in a pack, but a squall or squop does it for me.

I was able to buy a pretty decent young female beagle once because her mouth was "to fine" for her owner's taste. I was not too crazy about the voice either but she could run the heck out of a rabbit. I raised a litter out of her and she got more mouth. Hormone's? - I do not know! It was still high in pitcher but a LOT louder in terms of volume. I trialed her a good bit and I could always pick her voice out of the crowd! So, I guess I would say "unique" is best for a tone deaf guy like me!

WELL I GOT A CHOP, SQUALL,MACHINE GUN CHOP,DEEP LIKE CHOKING ON THE RABBIT BARK, A COON HOUND BAWL,AND A RASPY CHOP LIKE I HAVE NEVER HEARD AND EVERYONE WHO HAS HEARD HER SAYS SHE HAS A MOUTH LIKE NOTHING THEY HAVE HEARD BUT REALLY LIKE IT.
BUT WHEN I HEAR THAT BAWL FIRE OUT IT GETS MY BLOOD TO ROLLING, AND THAT SQUALL MOUTH. WHEN SHE FIRES ON A RABBIT IT SOUNDS LIKE YOUR TWISTING HER EAR, NOW THAT MUSIC TO MY EARS, THEN TROW IN THAT MACHINE GUN CHOP AND YOU GOT SOME BEAGLE MUSIC TO ME.LOL
