I use PYTHON tags made by Y-TEX and I am very impressed with them. The label doesn't mention dog or deer ticks, but I have not seen any tick on my dogs in the week I have been using them. I was picking 5-6 ticks off each dog after running, until I started using these. I can do 20 dogs for 30.00 dollars and they will last 7 months. Waiting to see how they work on black flies, but apparently they are gonna keep my dogs from getting eaten up by them as well.

They come in a box of 20. I did not see any smaller amounts. I take the stud that would go through the cow's ear and punch it through the wide end of the tag, and then into the hole. Making a loop out of it. I take the hard plastic ring the spike is to go through out of the tag.(you need a tool if it is there) and I have not lost any yet. A zip tie would work tho'. The spike is real sharp so I knock the point down with a file.
here is a link to a better picture you can see what i am talkin' about

I have used cattle tags for the last few years. They seem to work just great. I usually just fold it around the hounds collar and double it back threw the tag and just cut the sharp edge right off. We can buy them around my area by the single or buy the box. I think they are around 1.50 a piece but are WELL worth that.

Thanks

This will be the second year I have used them. They seem to work great. The purple ones seem to be the best. It helps keep fleas, ticks, and flies off your dogs. I buy mine off of Farrell Smith, in Phelps, Ky. They are $3.00 a piece. He has them ready to slip on the dog's collars. That is a good deal and they will last all summer.

Do ya'll use one tag whole, or do you cut it in half. Does it affect the dogs in any way? I used them about 10-12 years ago, but the folks told me to cut it half. Half a tag seemed to work fine also.
