I have no idea on how to get it started..but just had the idea..what do you all think?

Depends on where and when. I'm a long ways from KY but open minded as I love to ride and do quite a few charity rides each year. We are having a ride on June 7th, it will be the second annual, it is to raise money for a 5 year old boy whose mother was killed by his father, he is being raised by the grandparents and the money goes toward his future education. We advertise it and ask for any donations from our communities to take with us from non riders, last year we raised $2,500, hope to double it this year. Good luck. Think about a weekend ride and get together, sounds like a lot of fun, riding, and talking beagles! Hare

count me in,just put a tune up and oil change on mine, ready to roll...........
as far as how to do it,i have put on many poker runs while i was sargent of arms of the southern ohio roadriders bike club, you may want to call brian passmore,he has the connections in the diabetis foundation,as far as planning and putting on events,i can help out there,we will have to prolly clean it up a lil from what i used to do,no wet t shirt,or sexy stripper contests

but you can have bike shows,tattoo contests,slow race,weenie bite,ect.
maybe have a hog roast, charge an entry fee for the poker run,and sell plates of food, they are easy to put on,you have 50/50 drawings,i can get donations from harley shops and others to raffle off and raise money.
a poker run is where you plan a route, elect a road captain, prefferably a local that knows the route and area, you set up 5 or so stops along the route, each rider and passenger gets a checkpoint card to carry,at each stop, someone will be there to put a mark on your card, you need to hit all the checkpoints and get your card stamped or marked, then, when you get back to the clkubhouse,or starting point, each rider, passenger goes up to show their checkpoint cards to show that they completed the ride in full, then you draw 5 cards, that is your hand, the rider, passenger with the highest hand win a trophy, then second and third.you can also give a trophy out for oldest rider, youngest rider, rider whop traveled farthest to event and so on,you can also have what is called a cage class, for people who dont have bikes and choose to complete the route in a car, these things are fun.i used to attend one every weekend,i gave that up,now i have to look at your ugly mugs every weekend instead of wet t shirts

Maybe we could have a hula contest staring Blairzilla and DV..

The poker run sounds good..any ideas on the route? when would we do this? Maybe could be an annual event..

Lets jsut do it..
Poker run..
10 single rider and 15 couples 5 stops..best hand wins..worse hand wins something too..
any ideas on prizes?
I work around the gorge and it is beautiful right now..i';d say we meet in Morehead..head around 801 by the lake to 1274..take it to 77 through the gorge..we can stop at the Rest Station there..i will sit down and look at the route..how far do we want to go? shoto em back something we will get it going..ALL procedes will go directly to the Juvenile Diabetes hunt. We can shoot the breeze and raise some cash for some kids..who is in?
I'm all in ...
