i hate these freakin yotes..i was runnin ringo and 2 young hounds ...ringo got thumped pretty good and so did one of my young hounds not as bad as ringo but still took a good thumpin..ol ring is gonna be laid up for a bit..i got with 20 yards of them yotes before they cut out..so i guess it will be a few yote hunts in my future...i guess i was lucky i got out there when i did or i could have lost ol ringer..he is like one of my kids to me that would have sucked..i think he will be able to make a full rcovery though...just thought i would share..i'll keep my runnin to daytime for a bit i think..

Sorry to hear that Tracy. I hope all recover and you are able to kill a few of those yotes. I haven't had any problems lately with them and I hope it stays that way. Yotes live a hard life in the county that I'm in because we can carry a loaded gun in our vehicles year round and most around here welcome you to shoot them.

Hate to hear your hounds got attacked. I had a close encounter myself last weekend. I was fortunate they didn't touch my dogs. They just come up on us and barked then continued to follow me and the dogs. So they basically kicked us out of thier territory. And this was in the morning around 8:00 a.m.

Did the coyotes give any warning prior to the attack? Just wondering because the ones around my house have started to come in silent and it always has me on edge because of this. Normally I would hear them off in the distance and it gave me enough time to react to the situation.

Also, were you running lights or bells? I have thought about going to bells but I don't know if I can stand the constant "jingle" of them.

i have bells on all my dogs and the yote's still come up on us. The bells didn't do a thing.

i had no warning except the sound of a fight...ringo must have thumped one of them pretty good cause there was blood leading away from the scene..not to mention it is a lil spooky walking out into 8 foot tall corn in the pitch black with a pack of coyotes pissed off..

sure was...but he aint got it near as bad as ringer..

what happened to ringo. Did he have bites on him or something like that.

tore the hide off one of his ears and a gash on his back leg..3 sets of bite marks through out..didnt bother his tail none though..

joey in your other post ya said ya couldnt shoot cause it was in city limits do you bow hunt if ya do ya might try getting some with your bow the powers that be couldnt hear ya shoot n it would be exciting too just thought of that jb

i know a few guys that run yote dogs they will be coming out this weekend to do some exterminating..i will be there to get some evens..

kill them all

wish I could kill the ones on the grounds I run on during the off season.
