i was running 2 dogs last night ,about 20 minutes in the chase my 3 yr old male quit barking on track.they came out of the woods into the beanfield about 50 yards from me ran right by me, my male was running with my female but didnt bark in that fifty yard stretch.they went by and ran for 25 minutes without a bark from him.i could see the weeds moving from 2 different dogs,so they were still together, and when i called them back after a long check they both came in together.also when they ran by me i saw the rabbit so it wasnt off game.my female is a little faster and was really smoking the track.my male was struggling to keep up so i dont know if he just gave up or what because he has the most hunt in my kennel and has never did this before.any ideas?
thanks

maybe he was tying to swing to get back in the front.
another idea maybe once they got to the bean field he just couldnt smell it.i had a dog last night run a baby rabbit he was the only one who could track it,out of 5 dogs.

If he's following your female that is controlling the drive, a good hound won't bark unless he's getting lots of scent ( so he's not just barking at the dog in front) When and if he gets the check or lead he should bark though, could be that she steals it from him quikly and he doesn't like to open fast so he can get some of the run himself also.
