and how long does it run???? for curiousities sake,,, what are the limits and it there a "possession" limit??? here in louisiana rabbit runs from october 4th through february 28th,,,, i think we have a limit of 8 possession 16. squirrel is somewhat shorter, october 4th through feb 8th with the same bag limits as rabbit. duck is cut up into two zones, my zone opens november eighth, closes after november,,,reopens a week or so later and runs till mid january. deer is split into seven zones, with bow openers around october first for most,,, i don't hunt deer so i really don't pay much attention to it.
fishing is open now too,,,, 25 trout, five reds, ten flounder,,,, i love this states hunting and fishing.

In Ohio rabbitt season opens 11/7 and runs through the last day of Feb. The 29th this year. Woo Hoo and extra day of rabbitt hunting!! Hale to leap year!! The bag limit is 4 per hunter per day. I'm not sure what you guys mean by possesion. What does that mean? I've never seen it in Ohio.
Squirrel runs from the last weekend in August till the end of Jan. I think the bag limit is 4 for them too.
Bow for deer opened the 2nd saturday of Oct. and runs through 1/31. We are allowed 2 this year in the zone I live in. This is the first year that zone has reached up to my county. Unfortunately, I think the deer read the hunting book. Last year when I was only allowed one and wanted to wait for nice buck, I had at least 10 shots by now at does or smaller bucks. This year I haven't had a shot at anything yet.

possession would be how many you got in the freezer basically. im not sure how or if anyone has ever been checked for it, but that is what it is. kind of a dumb rule but it still is a rule i guess

. i eat a lot of rabbit and the most i can think of having in the freezer at one time is 8. we usually eat them before they accumulate that much

, so that is not a concern for me. now that gets me thinking---fried rabbit, rabbits and dumplings, rabbit BBQ, rabbit and noodles...

.

Texas doesn't have a rabbit season. Rabbits aren't considered a game animal in Texas. They can be hunted all year long as long as you have a license. And of course there is no bag limit.

possession limit,,, my understanding,,, is how many of the game animal you can have in your possession in the field,,,, like if you hunt in the evening,,, go to sleep and then wake up and hunt in the morning,,, you can have two limits when you get to the "boat launch" for instance,,, which is often the case down here in southeast louisiana,,, quite a few people hunt rabbits/squirrels/ducks and spend the night in a camp, go back home after a couple of days hunting,,, you can have a possession limit.

i took a hunter safety course with my son a couple years ago and the instructor explained it the way i did. whether its how many you got in the field or in the freezer or in your cooler in your truck, its "your possession", so all those examples are right.

In AR., the season comes in in mid Sept. and runs through the end of Feb. Daily bag limit is 8. I don't gun hunt much until after deer season is about over. Thank goodness AR. has a shorter deer season this year.

Oct. 1 - Feb. 28. I hate to say this but Oct. 1 is waaayyy to early for down here. Alot of rabbits are killed here that time of the year and no good to eat for one reason or another. Heck, its Oct. 27 now and they are calling for 80 this week. I think Nov. 1 would be better for harvesting rabbits and maybe run it through mid march or so.

Here on this side of the Bluegrass it opens November 1 and lasts until January 31 excluding November 8 and 9. It lasts November 10 through February 10 on the western side of the state. With three young hounds that have yet to be gunned over, I dearly plan to put plenty of fur in their mouth and much meat in my freezer.

Here in Pa. the season opened 10/25,conditions:damp,55 degrees, light wind sunny. Not a perfect day for me as far as conditions.Ideal condition for me-25 to 45 degrees, overcast or slight drizzle 0 to 15mph winds.Went to York/Adams Co.Pa.my son and I got there about 9am.a little later than I like to hit the woods but first time my son who is 22yrs has hunted with me in about 4yrs since him went to college. Those of us who have kids(3 boys +1girl)and hunt w/them who enjoy the sport almost as much as I do know the feeling to have their company so I didn't rush him the first time back when I lock him in again he'll have to break those sheets early.Drop the tailgate Otis 9yrs,White 6yrs.Joce and Ray both littermates females 2yrs after the ceremonial scratch.pee and crap we hit the edges. The rain of the early season has hurt the rabbit population even during the training season rabbits are not as abundant in my honeyholes.Jump the first 15 min.after we drop the tailgate up the hedgerow and out in the field across a weed field straightway 150yds cross a access rd.pass the back of a Gamewardens vehicle 75yds in a woods while the gamewardens checking some hunters round and round the thickets thru the woods and in a stone wall great run up goes 2 cockbirds,1 came home thanks to my son.The dogs really had to hit the briars but thats good for them we did put up 9 birds and 11 rabbits take home pay 1 bird 5 rabbits we don't shoot anything on the jump except birds. My dogs run birdsgrouse and woodcock and I'm ok w/that.I if wouldn't have gotten anything I would have been ok the dogs runs is what i love and take an occasional bunny for the dogs mouth.Running in the early part of the day was choppy but in the afternoon they run like welloil machines reminds me why i do this.

Our season in Michigan opens September 15th and ends on March 31st. Most people don't hunt rabbits until after the snow flies, but I will occasionally hunt when the weather is cold enough. Tony
