Most rabbits in 1 day

Hey fellas,
I was wondering whats the most rabbits you ever taken in one day.
Last sat we bagged 31. We did jump shoot 3. But the dogs ran so many rabbits jump shooting a couple wasnt taking anything away from the dogs.
It was one hellova day. We would jump a rabbit and while the dogs we running they would jump another.
I think at one time we had 7 dogs running 3 diff rabbits.

In Maine we have a bag limit of 4 so we can't get nearly that many.

me and a few buddies shot 18 one saturday a couple seasons ago. hunted almost all day and i wont ever shoot that many again. not that i think we hurt the population any. still hunt there today and havent noticed even the slightest decline. but that is way to many to clean in one evening lol...keith

Salisbury, But we go all over eastern shore and usually get anywere from 20-30 rabbits.

We killed 76 in 7 hours,we hunted 3 days and killed 156 but that was a once in a lifetime hunt.We normally average 15 to 25

i once herd of a young guy shooting 73 in one day with his 2 buddys and 3 hounds

i belive the most ive killed in one day is 3 or 4 n felt bad about doing that

On Jan. 2 we jumped 25 rabbits in about a 5 hour hunt, which is great around here. When our pup was running one, she would kick out two more. We didn't shoot at any on the jump, but my boys only killed 4 that she brought back around and had lots of misses (and lots of fun!) I didn't fire a shot, but it was one of the best days I ever had rabbit hunting. Loved watching our dog!

Thats the type of hunting that gives "rabbit hunters" a bad name with land owners and law enforcement! Ohio's bag limit is 4, other states i like to hunt like Iowa is 10 per day/per hunter. It's easy to have fun, enjoy the sport and you can even do this by following the laws where you are at! Guys who hunt for the slaughter are people i don't hunt with a second time.

We killed 48 in one day in Columbus, Georgia once, we were hunting an area that was in the city limits that was going to be turned into a golf course. It had a mixture of swampers and cottontails. We had special permission from the city to hunt there and they wanted the rabbits out because the place was infested with them. We went back the next day and killed 30 in the same exact spot. There were a couple of other people hunting there and they killed as many as we did. We hunted it 5 times and killed 130 rabbits, we parked in the same place everytime and hunted the same spot. We didn't exceed the bag limits for the number of hunters we had, and I didn't feel guilty about it at all. I was down there last week and rode by the golf course and saw several rabbits killed on the road right in front of the golf course so it seems that they are still there. As long as you don't exceed the bag limit or break any laws it is none of anyones business how many rabbits a person kills. This was long before i had dogs of my own and I was hunting with a guy who had 4 grade dogs, and one of them I will always remember by the name of Jack, that big male could run a rabbit to death. These guys were strictly meat hunters and they filled up there freezers and all of their friends freezers. When I lived in GA I always had a fill list a mile long of people who wanted rabbits so they always went to people who were ready to put some gravy on them. We have killed 25 -30 a day on private land in iowa also, but we are the only folks with permission to hunt the land and the land owner doesn't care about rabbits at all. We have been hunting this same land for 10 years and only hit each spot once per year.

a friend of mine said he hunted BEAVER ISLAND MI. in the mid 1970s when there was no limit
he said the dnr show him wher to go but they had to shoot every one they saw

I guess I am about the only one that just feels that shooting that many rabbits as you guys say you have in one day is absolutely nothing but ridiculous!!! I guess Ohio is about the only smart state to put a bag limit of 4 rabbits per hunter a day. There is no need to take that many rabbits at one time. I am a meat hunter myself but there is no need to take that many. Steve you hit it on the head when you said taking that many gives hunters a bad name at times. I am more than happy with my daily limit of four anytime I go out and normally get my limit. The most I have ever taken in one day with a group is 10 and that was between 3 of us.
