Our local Sams sells Purina Puppy Chow, Dog Chow, Hi-Pro and Pro- Plan.
I use the Dog chow variety and it costs around $22.00 for a 55# bag.

Walmart carries Pro Plan here but TSC sells it cheaper, Walmart will kill you on dog food, other places are 1-3 bucks cheaper which is a surprise.

Just got back from Sams and they were out of everything except puppychow, i asked the guy working where the Hi-Pro was and he said that Purina had gone up on the price again and that Wal-mart & Sams would not be carrying Purina after they sold what was in stock.

They are now carrying a brand called Makers Mark it says it is compariable to Purina Hi-Pro, has anyone ever heard of or used this food ?

I was at the wall mart today and all they had left was puppy chow and the small bags of dog chow? I wasn't going to buy any feed so I didn't ask anyone about it but it looked like even there ol roy stock was down quite a bit. It's hard to say what there up to.

From Purina-

Thank you for contacting Nestlé Purina PetCare Company.

We appreciate you contacting us, and we can understand your concerns. Please know that effective January 2009, various Nestlé Purina PetCare have undergone price increases.

The increases are necessary due to escalating ingredient, energy, packaging and transportation costs, which in turn, have increased manufacturing costs. In addition, increased government requirements and subsidies for alternative fuel sources, including ethanol and bio-diesel have caused substantial increases in corn, soybean, and wheat prices.

Nestlé Purina PetCare is committed to making high quality products and makes every effort to provide these products at a fair price. We remain committed to providing consumers the highest quality PetCare products, backed by sound innovation in nutrition and formulation. Please know that retail pricing is at the sole discretion of the retailer, we do not control the final prices seen at the shelf.

Again, thank you for visiting our web site.
