What do you guys use on YOURSELF to keep the ticks off? We were out running Thursday and then yesterday found a tick on my daughters neck  My wife is having fits. We use Deep Woods Off or Repel Sportsmen Max. Is there something better to use and where do you buy it at? Thanks!

I spray my boots heavily with Permathorone (spelling???) Since I've been doing that I've only gotten a couple ticks on my shirt from walking in the heavy brush but nothing like before.

Start now eating garlic twice a day. To NOT smell like garlic at all and so be able to kiss your bride, buy the pickled garlic which is sold at Cracker Barrel. It does the trick for any biting insects, including gnats, mosquitoes, and ticks. Sure beats cutting a hole in the seat of your pants to attract the gnats from your face!!!
One trial I went on everyone was swatting gnats and I stood in the middle of them and they all wanted to know what I used to apray on. Told them this and some laughed, some didn't. Next trial I heard experts all around telling others of this home remedy. Smiling.
What do you think folks did for thousands of years before all these chemical sprays?

I agree with bama john , but it's hard to get a kid to eat anything like that ;) the best repelant I've found is Permanone Repel , it's not to be applied to your person, but it's a cloth's teatment. Infact I just orderd a new can , I did a goggle search to find it and ordered it , it is alittle pricey but works. I'll have to say I can't take credit for finding this product , Cuz turned me on to it , and we've just it for several years, the 6oz can he gave me lasted maybe 3 years , I spray it on my boots around the ankle & on my chaps mid knee ,claims to last for 2 weeks or so & I belive it does. I ran out last summer and failed to get more , I've already dug 2 deer tick out of myself this spring , 1 which left a big red spot a ring , just went to the doctor Thursday , doc is doing a Lymes test and put me on a high dosage of anabotics just in case. Should have the blood work back Monday. Try it , it's good stuff

I'm from out your way, Bloomsburg, now live in western Pa. Never had problems with the deer ticks out there, but man them stinking wood ticks get all over you! Them things are creepy and give me the heebies, lol. All joking aside, heard from many old timers the garlic is the way to go. My wife doesn't like to kiss me anymore so I guess it just doesn't matter!!

You can get the Repel that jumpdog was talking about around here at walmart. It is about $6 dollars a can.

we live in danville and hunt in columbia county. I have picked ticks off of everything that moves here, from people to cats and dogs. My Lab tested positive for Lyme in November. My DH eats more garlic then anyone I know and when he comes home from the woods, I make him strip in the garage he has so many of them crawling all over him. AND yes, we have them all year long. He refuses to use any kind of spray. So I just have to pick em out.

trying the pickled garlic. I was eating two spoonfuls of minced cloves for about a week. Looked everywhere couldnt find the pickled and today I found it. That stuff is delicious. Hope it works cause the ticks are on steroids this year.

Avon's original Skin So Soft. Not the stuff in the pink bottle, the ORIGINAL. The lotion is very good and the bath oil even better. You can even put the oil on your dogs. And if in heavily infested areas, Deep Woods Off with 29% DEET works great!

im using the 40% Deet Deep Woods doesnt keep them off. Ive used Skin So Soft doesnt keep them off. Helps to keep them off but they will find a spot on you that didnt get touched and they will latch on.
