Good. How did the ones you did use work at repelling fleas ?
and how long do they work ?
I have never used them but thought I might try them this year
if they actualy work ...
Thanks

Re: cow tags
Put some on a couple weeks ago. Work great. I bought the pliers also. I fold them in half stamp them and slide them over the collar.
Re: cow tags
If the Tags were sealed back in a Plastic bag should be OK but not sure, the Purple Tags made by Y-Tex are good for 5 to 6 months or that is what the Bags says. I have them to sell if interested for a few Tags for $3.00 each.
Re: cow tags
I use the ones Chip is talking about, the Y-Tex Python cattle ear tags (purple & 9.5 grams/ea.). I replace them every 3 months but the ticks are bad here and they help somewhat but I still use Frontline Plus.

Re: cow tags
THE ONES I HAVE ARE ORANGE IN COLOR AND ARE BY Y-TEX GARD STAR, THEY WEIGH 9.5 GR AND ONLY HAVE 10% PERMETHRIN. FRONTLINE HAS 50%. I WAS IN THE PEST CONTROL BUSINESS FOR A LONG TIME UNTIL I RETIRED AND THIS SEEMS TO BE A SAFE PRODUCT AND EASY TO USE. THIS IS AN OLD THREAD BUT I WANTED TO BRING IT BACK ALIVE TO SEE IF THERE IS ANY UPDATED CHANGES ON THE RESULTS THAT YOU FOLKS ARE HAVING OR HAD. THE COLOR OF TAG IS A BIG DEAL ON THIS THREAD BUT ITS NOT THE COLOR ITS THE ACTIVE INGREDIENTS THATS IMPORTANT FOR SAFTEY REASONS. WITH THIS AMOUNT OF ACTIVE INGREDIENT THIS WOULD LEAD ME TO THINK THIS IS A GOOD SAFE PRODUCT FOR BEAGLES.

No, if you didn't seal them with a vacuum sealer. It has to be an airtight sealmaddogkennel wrote:i bought a bag of ear tags last summer to put on my dogs to get rid of fleas and ticks. my question is are the ones i didnt use still good?

Re: cow tags
i use frontline on my dogs. I just bought 7months supply for $110 dollars. I got the kind that treats 135lbs of dog. I just split it up for 5 dogs that I own using syringe. Comes out to $15 bucks a month to treat my dogs.
Re: cow tags
Joey what did you figure the dosage out to be, with your own syringe?

Re: cow tags
i dont know how many dogs you got but i can treat my dogs for 1.5 years for 18 dollars. That is a big difference.15x18=270. 270 vs. 18. for me the way to go is 18 jmo. everyone needs to do what works for them and what they like. just doing a little math.lol

Most of my dogs weigh around 25-30lbs I give each dog .7cc thats what i've been doing and it works for me. Just poke a hole high up in the little package and draw it up with a 1cc syringe. Remove needle and apply.

Re: cow tags
i've been trying to rack my brain where i found out how much to give a dog.
For extra large dog dosage treats up to 132lbs of dog. their is 4.02ml of liquid in the package

If you take the largest size for each category and divide by the vial size, you get 0.0305 ml per pound every time. So if you have a 25 lb. dog why give them double the dose of a 22 lb. dog? Just give them a bit more (0.76 ml) and you should be fine – and save even more money!
How I came up with .7cc for my dogs was. 0.0305 x 25lbs = 0.7625cc

Re: cow tags
one time i pulled the contents of a 25 lb dog into a syringe. I think it was like .8 ccs. When I dose the large dog I usually do 1cc per dog and get four. I have tried to doing five but found that it doesnt last as long as if you do 4.
