I just had to tell you guys that my new pup Sophie opened on a hot track today! I haven't had the dogs out in weeks (because the last time out they were attacked by coyotes). But today there was a breeding pair of cottons at the end of the driveway and I brought the pup up for a short sight chase. A couple seconds after they were out of sight she opened on the track!! I think the day a dog barks on a rabbit is the single best moment in their lives ( and mine too )

I agree. That instinct and inborn fire comes out. Then you get that thought that this could be " the one".

What a gorgous looking pup. Congrats with your pup. I agree when a pup opens for the first time It's one of the best feelings.You can only imagine the excitement that is going on in their minds when they get a whiff of scent and cry out.

A pup opening for the first time is very exciting and seems to make it all worth it!

I remember when my pup opened up for the first time. Amazing feeling! Im just waiting for his pitch to lower. Still sooo high!
