Hit and miss here, my Moe hound really did well this evening. Jumped two rabbits up and the first one lasted 35 minutes, he soloed it well, then the second one lasted 50 minutes. He ran this rabbit up this hill that the Army should train on. Very steep hill, Moe ran it very well with my older grade hound. Not bad running at all.

Ran some young dogs last weekend so hot and dry hard to hold a rabbit. But they did well just the same.

With all the rain we have had here the running has been great since March. The thickets are as healthy as they have been in a decade. Running some young ones pretty hard as well as some vetrans.

Hit the field @ 5:45 this morning.... 83 degrees.... grass about waist high and THICK!!!! Was trying a new area closer to the house.... not a single thing! Next weekend will probably be it for me in Akansas.... too humid and hot.... the hounds were winded in no time. Will run them in an active lil training area I came up with where we are generally on bunnies for as long as you can stand to listen to them. Yah... ready for fall!!!

Solo yesterday, dog went into a brushpile all "greened up" with new growth. I was standing about 10 ft away, when I hear some pups start yelping like they want to suckle. My dog goes ballistic for a couple seconds and comes flying out, head down and tail tucked. So I think he ran into a momma coyote and got lucky. I'll be taking a pistol next time.

barnold, that could have been a bad deal right there.Suprised momma didn't run the dog to your feet.Myself had some great running this morning.Got a little shower when I first got there and stayed cloudy a couple of hours.Lots of young rabbits, then hit a stinky old buck rabbit that took em for the tour.Supposed to be in mid 90's all this week, but with the hours I've been working,I'm too tired to run during the week anyway.

We were only about 30 yds from the parking lot/truck, so she probably heard me talking before and was only taking the defensive as a last resort. But it's a conservation area that butts up to suburbs, with little hunting allowed, so the coyotes are a little too brave there. I live about 4 miles from it, in one of many developed neighborhoods, and have seen a coyote cruising the sidewalks on Friday morning before all the trash gets picked up.

I got nearly 4 hours in this morning...Lots of babies and young rabbits on the ground right now. Alot of hit and miss...Usually have 2 good races that will last 45min to an hour the rest of the time is spent fooling with the young ones they can't hang on to. Guess I'm gonna do alot more night running....I'm not about to put them up for the summer and let em get soft on me!

It depends on which dogs I turn loose. I turned one loose this morning and she ran one or two about three hours. It was almost non stop.

Ran this afternoon after a thunderstorm cooled things down a little. They done great and ran a buck rabbit over an hour. Rabbit only half way circled one time and in typical buck rabbit fashion he took them for a ride nearly out of hearing distance. Im proud as poop of these dogs. I started putting together my first pack back in December and there doing great!

Ran in the heat today for two hours, my Moe hound did great, but got wobbly, so I took him home, he jumped both rabbits today... ran both for about 45 minutes. He's a jumping machine!!!
