I have a starting pen in northwest Ga. I have always just used it for personal use, but here lately I have been thinking of starting other peoples dogs to help with the expenses, but mostly because I just like fooling with pups. I was wondering how much the going rate to start a pup nowadays is? All the pups I have started has took me about a week to get them to running, and then another week to get them going pretty good. Every pup I have put in there that was around 6 months old was ready to put in the wild in 2 weeks. So I figure that I would gaurantee them to be running, not sight chasing, but actually running in 2 weeks. Before they leave with the dog, I would let them see for themselves. My pen is approximately 150'x200'. Still just thinking about it. Has anybody got any advise whether I should deal with the public or not? I know how hard it is to please some people.

Around here its 35 dollor for two weeks or when they start running what ever first. No gaurantee if not running in two weeks get them out and still pay 35 dollors. If you gaurantee them you will have some to keep bring them back.Let them know what what up frount.I would not put the gaurantee in it.Your asking for trouble.

ONLY THING YOU CAN GURANTEE IS YOU GOT RABBITS AND A PEN. you dont what they bred to if it was good bad or if ole spot got lucky.here some charge 3 bucks a day for however long it take or howeveer much you are willing to spend to get it going ..i charge in my new pen 40 bucks i will take up to 2 weeks after that its extra not my fault if they dog wont run a rabbit . i use my slowest dog to stir up rabbits they will run in front of that new dog if after a few days they wont chase them or follow that dog around sniffing . i just leave the dog in there byitself. for a few days. then repeat begininng. if after 2 weeks it wont try anything i usually give them a discountn to bring it back in another month or so .. but thats only happened once ..
