Are we really sure coyotes can catch a rabbit like some on here thinks.I m not talking up for the coyotes,but I don t think yotes can catch a rabbit that in good health.The reason I say this I know were a fox pen is that has yotes in it and the man says there the most rabbits in there he has ever seen.I know that him feeding the yotes makes a different but 10 years ago when there want no yotes around here anyway there still want no rabbits like it is now.I don t know just don t believe yotes are the problem like some do.

I think they eat the baby rabbits in the nest during breeding season. If my dog can catch a rabbit I think a yote can.

I'm pretty sure they probably, also, ambush rabbits also. I have a friend who had a part German Shepherd that always brought full grown rabbits home. I'm pretty sure it quietly ambushed them.

I agree if a beagle can catch a rabbit so can a yote

A fox ,coyote and beagles can and will catch rabbit ..ive seen coyote in with hare every year and thats just what there doin hunting the hare .kill the coyotes !!!!

yes yottes do catch rabbits. have seen it first hand. also see the fur in the coyotte scat. also turkeys will kill baby rabbits in the nest. had a coyotte satureday grab the rabbit the dogs was runnin and takie off with it.

Thanks yall.Just didn t really know.You recken a coyote will eat a fox or coon.don t see many foxes now, but lots of coons.Just wonder what eles will they eat,besize a beagle.

Yotes will kill the fox or run them off. Just like the hounds, they see them as competition for there food source. Don't know about the coons. I know fox and yote will eat skunk, and opossum. I don't think thats top of the menu though.

In regards to the rabbits. A fox or yote has an advantage over a beagle catching one. A beagle has it bread into him to open his mouth when he smells one, the yote knows better and can sneak up on em.

You have to remember this... The only thing lower than the rabbit on the food chain is grass.

A coyote has MUCH keener senses than a beagle and can catch hare on a regular basis

I have heard other people who visit fox pens say they usually have rabbits in them. I grew up around yotes in Texas and one thing I learned was that Mr. Coyote will eat anything, and I do mean anything. They will eat fruit, berrys, road kill- anything. Any predator must consider energy expended versus energy earned, and I expect it takes a lot of energy to catch a rabbit compared with other sources of energy. Do I think yotes will catch rabbits? Sure, but only if he can't find something easier to catch.

yes they will catch them... if you read up on them and study them you will find though that rabbit is not a big part of there diet... studies have shown that rodents make up almost 70% of a coyotes diet. rabbit is like maybe 13% if i remember correct... i have actually witnessed a grey fox catch a rabbit and eat it while bow hunting this year. it was cool to watch but i wish he would of been in bow range..

in the winter months a coyote has to have 2lbs of protein a day to survive...

You can add house cats to the list of thing a coyote will eat.

I was told by a guy that I buy my corn from that he saw coyotes running in front of the combine chasing rabbits and waiting at the end of corn rows when the combine went through and ran them down. They get their share for sure!!
