I hope this picture comes through. I know there has been a lot of discussion on the site lately about killing rabbits but I thought most of you, and especially those at the top, would find this OK. If not, I will answer all questions now.
1. No, I am not going to eat it.
2. Yes, my beagles were running it and doing a fine job, I might add. It was not jump shot.
3. Yes, it was a big thrill. Taken with my 22 pistol at about 35 yards.
4. Yes, I do feel bad about taking its life, but I rationalize it by thinking maybe I have reduced the predator population.
5. Yes, I do feel fox hunting is a sport if done with beagles and pistols.
6. Yes, I know running fox with beagles is considered "trash" but man is it fun.
7. After harvesting this fox, I took the same beagles to another location and ran rabbits and no, I did not harvest any of them.

great pic. and good job. it sure would be hard to break my dog off if he ever started a fox. there is not much better than a good fox race. i have ran many fox with the big hounds but never with the beagle.

Big Mic: The explanation was a little in jest and a little serious because of all the hoop-ala that has been going on about rabbit killing.
Dave G: Man, running fox, as I am sure others can attest, is fun, fun, fun, with beagles. I find that fox run better than hare and around here, when the snow gets deep, the cottontail just won't give you much of a chase. It takes a tough dog to handle a fox for a couple hours.

It's a man's prerogative what he runs with his hounds. Kill all them foxes you wish, leaves a few more rabbits to hunt as well.

leso9: I was born and raised in KY. Grew up running fox in the eastern side of Magoffan County. In Michigan now, the big hounds make them run too far and there are too many people so I use beagles. Of course, the beagles run rabbits also and more so.
Charley: Bring them funny colored dogs up here, man. We will paint them with black and tan paint so they will look like real dogs and stand out in the snow. LOL

Buck,
Everbody in magoffin County still carries a pistol, but most have a Four Wheeler and a pill Buzz. I went a couple years back and ran with James Coleman. Everybody in that store at the forks of the road had a pistol on their side but me!!!!
